Use brigde building. It will either tell you, that you failed to make a bridge, or ask you, where do you want to place it. You need a Log in your inventory (you get those from cutting down trees - animated trees leave those too). A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

I think you also need a hatchet, but you probably have that since you did the quest. Is the book required for making bridges, or is it just needed to improve the skill? If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. You just need it to improve. Still, building bridges with the skill at 10-20 is a pain. You have just as much percent of success, as the skill level, so... It's a pain ;) A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

I believe that you also have to have the manual in you pack. (I used to leave the manual and hatchet in the glade so it wont be destroyed) Otherwise you cant improve the skill upon gaining levels. If I have literacy, I no longer train with Yrrigs, I just read the manual, it seems that I get a higher initial score value. Also, I believe that in order to improve the Bridge skill, you have to attempt it two or three times between advancements, otherwise the max possible will be low "Not Zeus himself nor any other Power Shall save this madman who defies the Gods!".....Phoebus Apollo |

I know this is stupid... but how do you cut down a tree? (exacts items needed and keystrokes please because I'm very new at this game.) |

Hatchet in tool slot, if I remember correctly, stand next to a tree and press u, then the direction required. You pick up the Blessed Amulet of Life Saving. Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, slowly turns toward you. "That will cost you.. ..your soul" |

No, i reckon you had to stand on the tree itself and press the 'u' key. For the bridgebuilding part itself, hatchet still in tool slot, press u key when standing next to the place where you want to place the bridge, and select the direction you want for the bridge. (i also just figured this out a week or two ago, so still fresh in my memory. Never managed to train my bridge-building high enough to actually make a bridge though. |

Obviously, you need a log for every square of bridge your making. Doesn't matter if it's a square in the wilderness or a square in the dungeon. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Yeah, and gobbles up LOTS of game time. I wouldn't advise bridge building at all unless it was a last resort at the spoily place where you need a bridge. But, it can be useful. After Ive done the carpenter quest, I like to practice my bridge building while carrying lots of heavy stuff around at the start of the game to train my St. in Terinyo. |
