When I hit "Back," my browser pulls an old page out of cache. It's annoying 'cuz I have to refresh or click the appropriate link to go back. On the old forum, this doesn't happen. In fact, there, it even displays updated threads and forum sections as unvisited links, so I know which ones to go to without having to look at the date.

Hmm, I already use that meta expire thingy to prevent browsers from caching any of the forum pages...

Is your browser set up to check with the server every time it loads a page?

I can see if I can do some more settings on the server side, but ultimately that sort of things are up to the browser...

What's so funny? :/

I have it set to check "automatically," whatever that means. Maybe if I clean the cache it won't grab another copy.

Don't worry; I won't. NS is lame. I use IE5.

NS is really crappy nowadays yeah. IE5.5 is rather good, though I like Opera quite alot and am currently using it *way* more than IE5.5. Only thing I use IE5.5 for is when creating javascripts and stylesheets.

It's rather strange that IE5.5 follows the HTML and CSS standards alot better than NS and Opera does, considering all the odd stuff Microsoft has pulled off...

I don't think the disk cache is even used when you click "back", it just slam up the page from the memmory buffer... Try setting it to "every time" and see if that help by any chance...

Ï think I can set some no-cache value in the HTTP header that is a tad more powerfull than the <META> variant, it might do the trick... I'll see if I can find the time to add it to all the scripts one of these days...

And why doesn't the color of a link change when new message is posted? It's rather annoying. :(

The link stay the same color because the URL doesn't change...

I suppose I could add some randomish value at the end of the URL just to make it look different to the browser every time a new message have been posted or someting, that schould do the trick without making the URL TO cryptic or long...

lol I understand *WHY* it doesn't change color. Why can't the number of posts serve to this aim..

I think the last date would be better, if I use number of posts then you would risk that a thread reverted to "visited" if someone for some reason deleted a message in the mittle of the thread.

P.S. NaZgul, and everyone else: If you accidentaly post the same message multiple times it's better to just delete the exess posts rather than post a 3. one saying "ops sorry". Helps keep the threads as clean as possible ;)
