The phial gives light at the cost of power points, and it's an artefact. Not much more about it. A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

Light dosen't kill gremlins I was wearing a Amulet of light when i was in the Gremlin Cave and it dose the same thing as the Phial as Caladriel only it dosen't take away pp's. "Such is life" - Ned Kelly |

Light kills gremlins. It just has to be the spell of light or something equivalent. Carrying a torch or having an amulet of light on isn't enough. The Phial can kill lots of gremlins and create a big ass lighted section when used with a wizard with 1000 power points. OTOH, after that your power points are at zero, and it isn't of much use after that. BTW, an amulet of light isn't nearly the same as the Phial. It's like an everburning torch around your neck. (Well, actually not, carrying a torch increases your LOS and I don't think an amulet of light has that effect. Not sure though.) The Phial of Caladriel lightens a dark section when used, where the radius of the lighted section depends on how many power points you have. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.
