My computer crashed with a fairly good char and I want to know if there is somway to restore it. I didn't have any savefile backed up but I did have all the temporary files generated in the tmpdat directory. When trying to start a game with the tempfiles present it still says "Sorry, no saved games..." Antother question... If I kill a feline without reciving the message aboute the "distant roar" and so on. Will I still be able to get the RotMC in that case or will the the :k memory be enough to make the MasterCat hostile? |

AFAIK there is no way to restore a char from tempfiles. There is just not enough information there to restore the char. You'd better take backups in case the game crashes from now on. Sadly, I guess that char is lost for good. Concerning your second question, IIRC the distant roar is just a flavour message and is connected to the chars perception. If the char has too low perception (s)he just fails to notice something is wrong. If your :k page shows even one killed cat -> hostile kitty lord. Actually I did backup the savefile after finding LongSting in the shop as I mentioned in another thread, in case it was REALLY rare =) But that was on level 1, and it chrashed at 28.. =( Well.. At least I can "restart" with the same good equipmant. If I manage to steal it again, that is. |
