Well, Dirty Arabs, Purple Dinosaurs and ElDeR ChAoS TeLeTuBbIeS ofcourse :P If I were ever designing a rougelike, it would never have anything serious in it. Just your avarage "incredible plastic longswords of self mutilation" type things :D A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

I was often refered in high school as a 'dirty arab' by my friends (my only connection being that I have a touch darker skin due to Italian heritage), and I'll have to be pedantic here and point out that Arabs are not a 'race' in the proper sense of the word. actually i am making a roguelike-type-game-thing with a friend of mine... can't say much more about it though, it's still in the very early stages (his half is more advanced as he's been working on it longer). Right now the versions average out to about 0.0015. ivan.sourceforge.net |

Completly new races or humans, several types of elves (grey,high,dark, half) hurthlings, several types of orcs, trolls, dwarves, dragon people, lich people, vampire % (whatever race is), and mutant ninja turtles. |

Beholders and evil dwarves are both good ideas. Mutant and demon races are both good ideas that I have already had ;) Main problem with beholders is they are more likely than not the exclusive property of wizards of the coast, incorporated. You pick up the Blessed Amulet of Life Saving. Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, slowly turns toward you. They won't mind,atleast when your work's not commercially published. A Doppellganger(I never managed to spell that right)race would be nice.I mean,think about it;a special ability which allows you to duplicate the opponent.Think of the possibilites...infiltrating a goblin encampment while disguised as a goblin.
