What exactly does a mindcrafter do?

They do things with their mind. May sound sarcastic, but until you try playing one, you can't truly know about their talents. Even reading the manual doesn't describe them very well, though it does shed a bit of light on the subject...

Thanks a lot, i'll try that.
One more thing, what purpose do the Mad Minstrel and the Fool in the first town serve?

The Mad Minstrel gives you hints on locations and stuff, and a quest, and some rewards for returning an item to him, plus a reward for completing the quest.

The fool is just a flavor element, he spouts random cookie sayings. But if you give him a potion of booze (doesn't matter if it's C/U/B), he gives you a random potion. (Which can be a PoGA, if you are lucky enough)

Thanks again.
Just one more thing this time...
Could you tell me how to get the corruption powers?

once you get corrupted enough. most (or maybe all) of the powers are used inately, ie: you dont need a command to use it (eg: stat-changing corruption that reduces appearance but increases perception).

Taz: A potion of gain attributes (4s) is lying here. Suddenly a stone block hits your head! Something on the ground is smashed to pieces!
PeanutGod: Awwww no! How harsh is that! This is where you need the artefact 'mop and bucket'.

ok thanks everybody for all your help!!!

I've got one more question
What good is there by lowering your weight?
I had a 160 lb elf go to 3 lbs in a few trips to the trap.

Thanks to you too.

There's an edit button, no need to post three times in a row.

Sounds like you're stepping into a corruption trap to corrupt yourself. Thoes powers might be fun but you'll die when you get corrupted enough, so you really should avoid getting corrupted instead of doing it deliberately.

As to answer your question, I don't quite know. Could affect how much you can carry before ice breaks under you.

You sound like you don't mind getting spoiled, so here's a link to Andy Williams' Guidebook to ADOM http://www.andywlms.com/adom/ It contains pretty much everything known about the game, and has answers to many of the questions you'll come up with.
If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.

Spoiler
High level mindcrafters are so cool cos they have mindcraft such as Teleport Control and Teleport Self/Other and Regeneration....so cool. But then again high level Rangers are immune to all negative weather effects which includes rain and no longer slowed down by terrain effects such as swamps, mountains and hills and can also aumatically evade all wilderness encounters

You can't compare the two, IMHO... one's a magic user and the other's a melee type...

Spoiler
You probably got corrupted with the two corruptions that lower your weight, Jelly Cube. The two corruptions (or one, if you're a hurthling) allow you to enter the quickling tree.

Well, I can't seem to find the Quickling Tree. I've looked everywhere on the right side of the river.
I won't go across the river until I find a helm of water breathing. It's most likely on the other side, isn't it?

Don't look everywhere, just stand on one forest square, and keep pressing the "s"earch command. You'll fing the tree quick enough.
If you want to cross the river, go south. There's a swamp there and the river ends.

Yeah, the tree is a challange for mid-high level characters (if you're over 21 and have nothing to do, then try the tree. You might even survive and get those tasty, speed increasing quickling corpses).

Is it true that eating many quickling corpses means you die age faster/die from aging more easily. Like, I got the message from eating the quickling king, saying that, basically. Also, would this be countered by potions of longevity?

Yes you can drink Potions of Lonlevity to counteract the effects of Quickling Royalty corpses(Quicling Kings & Queens) and Potions of Youth to counteract anutural aging attack from Ghosts.
