I have brought my character, a Drakeling Druid, up to level 21 now. He luckily found a pair of scrolls of familar summoning. I used them on the 28th level of the Caverns of Chaos, and out popped a mimic hivemind, and a greater moloch! >:)
The Moloch, however, was accidently left behind due to my speed. The hivemind, which I have named Deathray, is alive and well. He is my main source of power in this place. Tell about your favorite pets.

I've never used pets b4 but if I was going to I would use a scroll of familliar summoning on D:50 or SMC when I get to Lv.50 then train it in the wilderness and lave it fight Swamp Hydras, Foromian Giants, Choas Warlords and Wind/Air Elementals and heal it when necissary.

My best pet was Bob, the writhing mass of primal chaos. He was near invincible, except for low hp, and was killed by a rock fall.

You pick up the Blessed Amulet of Life Saving. Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, slowly turns toward you.

My best pet is, get this...

A greater titan.

I have trained him in places like the scintilating cave and such places as that. His stats are as follows:
(this is off memory so the numbers may be a few off, but nothing to serious)
Level:76 (this one I know for SURE)
HP:12??
hits:12 times i think, that is the last time i checked...
damage:79-168 I'm pretty sure
And of course, he provides awesome back-up fire with his ligh crossbow and eternium quarrels...

I got him by using an uncursed scroll of familiar summoning in the first level of the cave where you start in and the monsters get stronger as you do (i forget the name). I was level 50 when I did it. whenever i get scrolls of familiar summoning thats where i use em. I have gotten king leeches, king ghosts, greater earth elementals, and a few other things, And all are very high levels (over 50 usually)

I have had pets ranging from a kobold to the entire town of Terynio. I used the Cheaters delight to get wands of wishing w/ infinite charges, then slowly moved the town up in level. I had them killing balors before I got bored. The tiny girl even took out an earth elemental!

I only used those wands for that purpose. I wanted to see how strong a town could get.

I never manage to keep pets too long, so they never get any good. In fact I can't think of a pet worth note that wasn't a starting pet like a Fairy Dragon or dog or whatever.

Ive never had a familiar\pet\companion. The old barbarian followed me once, but I had a hard time because he wouldnt keep up. The good sheriff accompanied me to the first level of the Northeast (puppy?) caverns, but thats as far as it went.
Knowing my luck, if I had a scroll, I'd get a rat or something.

my first pet was a white wyrm of some sort, it was COOL!

Taz: A potion of gain attributes (4s) is lying here. Suddenly a stone block hits your head! Something on the ground is smashed to pieces!
PeanutGod: Awwww no! How harsh is that! This is where you need the artefact 'mop and bucket'.

OT; I like the movie 'I am Sam'
Greater moloches are great pets, unless you get them ticked off. I had a red wyrm as a pet once, was a great pet, sadly he was killed in the chaos temple by some WMoPC.

molochs are too slow imo, balors too. still, they're useful in gravedigging (when an emperor lich suddenly pops up)

Greater earth elemental and a balor from blessed SoFS on D:50.
the elemental didn't survive for long, sadly... he could follow through walls, which is nice when you have lots of speed.

I haven't experimented much, and I've never yet tried to use companions. But... Once I was reading random unidentified scrolls, and one turned out to be a scroll of familiar summoning, and I got... a shambling mound! It killed me very shortly after because I accidentally attacked it in the dark.

Also, I found a dwarf figurine of woundrous power once, on the water temple level. I've only ever found 1 or 2 figurines. I used it and told the dwarf to attack the Snake from Beyond... he didn't win.

at least the dwarf got to die fighting...

I've found figurine shops before. Once, I found several Vortex figurines in a figurine shop, duplicated them, (yes, this was before 1.0), and sent about 50 of them after Andy in quick successsion. He died. :)
