Anyone got any suggestions for any other games similar to ADOM? I've played essentially EVERY other rogue-like... I'm thinking of games like the Exile/Avernum series from Spiderweb software. Which, if you haven't played, you should get immediately. http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/ |

You like good ol' spidweb too? Nice to see some other fans. ;) And the graphics are slightly above those of ASCII, but still sufficiently simple to not interfere with the plot and game quality. Move the cursor to the desired position and press [SPACE] when done. Impossible. Suddenly you stand elsewhere. You see an ancient altar of black obsidian. The goblin rockthrower suddenly shouts a prayer to his gods! You are consumed by a roaring column of flame! |

I've been playing emulators and roms lately. I suggest you get a decent SNES emulator and d/l some roms of the older FF games. FF 5 and 6 are particularly good. ivan.sourceforge.net |

Dragon warrior series for the NES is great :P If you like D&D, try searching some abandonware sites for the Pool of Radiance series, and similar games. They're great, and old enough to have almost non-existant graphics, which is always good. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Play Avernum 1-3, then. Same game quests and plot, but all them weapons and spell systems are cooler. Although, the Exile III spells are great. |

ff3 for NES is also pretty good. my favorite ff game after ff5 for SNES Taz: A potion of gain attributes (4s) is lying here. Suddenly a stone block hits your head! Something on the ground is smashed to pieces! PeanutGod: Awwww no! How harsh is that! This is where you need the artefact 'mop and bucket'. |

Talking about good rpg's... FALLOUT 1&2! It's VERY refreshing to blind peoples' eyes from a distance with a sniper rifle or blow a child's head and limbs off with a burst from a minigun after slaying 200+ dragons and 5000+ orcs with only might&magic. Anyone who hasn't tried them yet should get their heads out of D&D asses and start playing, if you manage to find them somewhere. I found Fallout 2 on kazaa sometime in the beginning of December. i want to get fallout (2 or 1) but can never find anyone on Kazaa who has it... I used to play Medievia, but I got bored after a while. It was fun for a time. As is FF5, i played that for a long time, but I stopped after moving to a new computer. When I finally got the rom/emulator/etc i had been using onto my new one, I couldn't figure out where I'd put my airship-submarine-boat-thingy and couldn't continue... Arrgh... ivan.sourceforge.net |

Some other enjoyable, though older, role playing games: Phantasie 1, 2, & 3 (Good luck find a playable version of 2), Questron 1 & 2 (Never have found a complete working version of 1, so if anyone has a copy...), and of course The Bard's Tale series.
