Are the monstern in the ToTHK harder than usual? I'm asking because I had a really hard time with a lvl 15 Drakish beastfighter there in the cavernous levels.

I don't remember seeing particularly tough monsters there with my lv18 (or something) gnomish beastfighter. Then again I didn't spend too long there, just located the stairs down, descended all the way to the tomb and gave the puny ol' skelly a right royal kicking (or rather punching). It could be that tougher monsters spawn there over time. Or you were just unlucky. Or I was lucky.

Anyway, beastfighters are real toughies. What other class can beat steel golems to scrap barehanded ? Considering it was a lv18 or something gnome doing it...

The big rooms in the TotHK have a decent danger levels, high enough for Ogre Lords, Hill Giants and Dorn Beasts to spawn pretty often.
And your beastfighter shouldn't have any problems at lvl 15, if he has decent "fighting" stats (St ~22, To 25+, Dex 25+, those 2 last can be trained up to 30 with herbs).

Higher danger level= higher level monsters...
Thought that was obvious.
Since the danger level is high enough to have really strong monsters spawn, the weaker monsters have higher levels and are stronger.

But still, you shouldn't have a hard time in there, it's easier then Darkforge.

Not actually a hard time like I was close to die, but it took more hits to kill the monsters

*Hijacks another thread*

So you need frost or bridge building to progess. What happends if your non-mage with no bridge building gets mana battery?

I've found over 30 wands but not a single frost. Where should I go to scum one? ID 9? I just have to take herbalism...

Umm... only if you can blow around 300 HP a turn, plus drowning damage probably...

You can lead an ice vortex down there.

Fortunately I do not have mana battery(yet). Anyone found frost wands in ID9?

I once had to prepare myself for the Holy Quest Of The Ice Wand (read more about this from the HOF winners section - drakeling weaponsmith..)

If I remember right it was something like I:50 before I encountered my first wand of ice... :E
If you can take some corruption and can let the time flow you should probaply dive to CoC all the way down to the eternal guardian and hope you encounter one before that.. if not, then go to ID as deep before you encounter one... it's not that bad, the corruption there... and you prolly will get loads of xp..

I found an ice vortice and with the 7lb, managed to lure it down stairs without exploding(see my thread on vortexes, vortices, whatever).

Then I a werewolf and his pals block my way. Boom! Cicular kick isn't that impressive.

Guess ID is the solution. Found it on ID 30-40. Honesty, I hate mandatory random items, of course you can always get it from the druid but...

yes... but by the time you were high enough level to survive library you'd probably have got a wand of ice randomly.
