Adom "Robin Hood Challenge"

My fellow ADOMers, I present this challenge to you...

Rules

1. Must be a Male Human Ranger, born in the month of the Falcon.

2. Must choose the first seven talents in this order: Alert, Good Shot, Keen Shot (must have DX 13+), Aff. w/ Bows, Aff. w/ Crossbows, Aff. w/ Slings, Missile Weapon Master.

3. First kill must be an Outlaw or Outlaw Leader - name "Robin Hood" is meant to reflect this first kill.

4. May only visit wilderness locations, Terinyo ("Nottingham"), Lawenilothehl ("Sherwood Forest"), the Infinite Dungeon, the Old Barbarian's Glade, the Mad Minstrel's Clearing, and the Quickling Tree.

5. Must never buy anything, but may steal if possible. May sell things for gold, or give them away to NPC's.

6. May only use gold to give to beggars, to make them companions - Robin Hood's "Merry Men". Name them "Little John", "Friar Tuck", "Will Scarlet", "Maid Marian" (if female), etc.

7. May never kill a Beggar.

8. May never have companions other than Beggars.

9. Must never let a companion die.

10. Must acquire "Courage" skill from the Old Barbarian.

11. Must acquire Archery 100.

12. Must acquire Survival 100.

13. Must kill Yergius the Master Thief in Lawenilothehl, to become the "Leader of the Thieves Guild".

14. Must kill Tywat Pare the Sheriff in Terinyo.

If you make it this far, you will have a remarkable character - feel free to play out the "Further Adventures of Robin Hood" however you choose, and free of further constraints.

Be sure to post comments, question and results below. I am writing strategies based on this challenge, and will post them soon.

Happy "Hooding", fellow adventurers! :)

I don't want to sound like a spoilsport, but wasn't Robin Hood primarily an archer?
and is it ok to kill a Bandit for first kill?

No, ranger is just as good a class. The ranger's strength is wilderness survival and combat; Robin Hood was good at all sorts of combat, not just archery... I would say Robin Hood classifies best as a ranger who specializes in missile weapons, though if I were setting the challenge, thief and archer are the two other classes I'd admit.

How about weapon requirements? "Must use either unarmed combat, quarterstaves, or long/shortbow at all times"? Though some of the legends to have Robin using a sword or dagger at times...

If I may ask, why is "born in the Falcon" compulsory? It means you have to scum to attempt this challenge.

Are there any restrictions on alignment? Stay neutral, or turn chaotic when you get the chance?

When you've fulfilled all the criteria listed above, can you then go down the CoC and win the game?

I imagine you'd turn lawful soon enough if you converted so many beggars.

Not necessarily. You could fulfill the requirements with only a single beggar companion (or, technically, none at all).

Update:

I started a character yesterday and he finally died today (#$@% Werejackals), almost totally legitimately. I'll admit it: I quit until I got the Falcon, and changed the date to July 2nd (bad bad bad!). No other cheating though!

Got to Missile Weapon Master. Got my first kill (Outlaw). Stayed out of forbidden areas. Never bought anything... sold lots (almost enough gold for a Beggar companion). Didn't kill any Beggars... no other companions. Got Courage. Almost up there on Archery... got Survival 100. :)

Saw two (count em: two!) birthdays for the first time. Found a decent longbow, plus a Necklace of the Eye.

I discovered a couple tips as well:

1. Rangers don't start with Fletchery, and you can't buy anything. So how to get arrows other than randomly? Berserker parties in the Wilderness - if you're tough enough. Set your tactics to Coward and run around like a madman as they feebly empty their quivers. This leaves plenty of arrows (I found lots of good ones) for you to pick up once you get tired of running or short of food and decide to slaughter them. :)

2. Don't kill Yergius or Tywat Pare immediately. Use them first. Give the Sheriff corpses for gold, and learn some skills from the Master Thief. Save their deaths for the grand finale.

I'll post my character flag here, so you can see what you can accomplish (or almost accomplish lol). I'll keep you updated as to further developments in later replies...
