Oh geez, here we go again- ranting about how bad cheating is. We all know that, but remember that all players have their own tastes. So just leave it be if they want to cheat- let them decide. Just don't boast something you've achieved with cheating. Personally, I am against cheating ... but meh. Fear me not,I'll go nice on you....For now. |

Ok, Cheating: It is evil but some the game is wery hard for newcomers and they want to cheat, or sumethin. Cheating doesnt make you a Bastard, lets think; You must not cheat in adom but you can cheat in other games,lol I cheat in many games, and in adom sometimes. When you win whit cheating, its pretty dull. But still, some games get really hard(in halflife i just couldnt get past the last boss so i had to cheat, but it dint really feel winning)so better cheat than bang your head against wall in frustration. There's a yahoo group named cheatinginadom, at least used to be. There were guides for cheating, and downloads for cheated chars and other stuff. You might want to try cheating, but playing adom with an invincible char is utterly totally boring as hell. Really, it's a lot more fun without cheating. Be careful and cautious, run away when in doubt and you'll soon become a good adom player. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Me prefers walkthroughs rather than cheating. If I must bang my head against a wall, I look how others do the thing that needs to be done. Not that it would happen often, but sometimes (like in Jedi Outcast, darn I hate those, look up and see a little thing you can blow, go back half map and you've got a new exit...) |

I hope TB makes the next version of ADOM and JADE cheatproof and no savescumming because then people would try to win the game normally or don't play at all. Also these talks about cheats would stop. For the Horde! |

That's a bit insistent, don't you think? Let people play how they want. It's on their machine, and it's not like you're actually competing against them. I don't cheat or do any scumming, but I'll certainly stand up for the rights of those who do. It's posting the wins and/or bragging about a non-legit win that bothers me. Don't worry so much about what others do, and play. Just play. :P The one who is good at shooting does not aim for the center of the target. |

I generally hold off on cheating until I've won the game legitimately - but I played ADOM for months with literally no success (my best character was lvl 9 or so), so I indulged and started referencing the guidebook, which is cheating to an extent. To an extent, reading a 'spoilers' forum is cheating as well... but I give myself that level of cheating, 'cuz ADOM is tough as nails. I won't break down and start loading save files up or hacking the game until I've got a good handle on winning it 'fairly', though, just 'cuz I like the element of figuring things out as I stumble along. I know that if I wrote a game, I'd expect that I'd intend for it to be enjoyable w/o cheating, while recognizing that it'd get hacked apart anyway ;-) ~Kryllion~ Master of the Screeching Humanling |
