Is it possible to apply smithing on SLB:s and if so what is the material used?

No; you'll want to use scrolls for those.

Seven League Boots, boots that lower the energy cost of walking to 495 energy points if blessed (750 if uncursed, increase to 1250 if cursed).
The number of energy points means, that when you have speed of 495 you can walk each turn (normally, with speed of 100, you walk once per 10 game turns).

Seriously... what's with people on these forums? Half the people say they're drunk and the other half say they're stoned.

But "crafting" could be a very good addition to ADOM, it would be nice to have a better way of increasing your non-smithables.

No, we just admit it when we're drunk or stoned :P

This is one of the most sensible forums I've ever been on, actually. Anywhere else, you get people flaming each other regularly... here, when someone tries that, there's a public outcry and the person who did so usually doesn't do it again...

So if this forum's made up of drunk and stoned people, I wish (tongue firmly in cheek) that more people would get drunk and stoned!

Re. Crafting: Wouldn't that be a little unbalanced? Unless, of course, the Crafting and Smithing skills were somehow mutually exclusive, like Healing and Herbalism...

How do you use scrolls on boots? i thought that was just for armor, my scrolls of protection/defense always seem to turn to ash :(

well, crafting materials such as hides or cloth could be rare random drops, and you'd have to find a rare "tannery" in the dungeon, like you have to find forges, and it could be as hard to get stuff to +5/+5 with crafting as it is to get stuff to +10/+10 with smithing, if you're worried it'd be unbalanced.

Village fool: Take off all your armor but the armor piece you want raised. As in, if you want the defense of your boots to go up, take off everything but your boots when reading the scroll. You can make helmets, cloaks, girdles, body armor, bracers, gauntlets, and boots better this way. Maybe shields too, not sure. I usually have stuff like cloak of protection [+5,+3] from reading scrolls on them.
