My latest character (H. Elven Farmer)has had some interesting luck with shops thus far. Barnabas' was selling two scrolls of education (bought 'em and got Athletics and Pick Locks, could have been better, but I can't complain) and a dagger of death. Then a ring shop just before Dwarftown had two rings of ice (nice!) and a ring of djinni summoning (much more than nice!). Now I'm just saving up to buy 'em! Thank goodness for the Si!
Anyone else seen RoDS for sale? This was a first for me, and being so early in the game!

I've seen them... not often, but I've seen them, occasionally. I have to mention my yberlucked drakeling weaponsmith who had 6 wishes before 4 wishes (iirc) before closing the gate and 5 wishes after closing the gate. So 9 wishes total ^^ (Anyway, he had a RoDS generated in a shop, it cost me some 35k)

Hmm... You could always drink a potion of invisibility and steal it.

You should (once powerful enough) kill the shopkeep, sure it will lower your alighnment and curse you... Sometimes shopkeeps can see invisible, this always happens to me.

I think you shall NOT kill the keeapers..
Wait until you reach the Casino, then you will have unlimited $. After that, you can buy everything, just to see it get restocked after a while.
Did this with a potion store, which resulted in me mixing my very own PoGA's LOTS of times!

Ofcouse this demands Alchemy 100 and a bit luck with the required engridiences (spelling?)

But anyway, don't waste the oppertunity to get more neet stuff generated, just buy everything, and loose it if you don't want it!

I was planning on waiting for the Si to replicate itself and then sell the extras to get the gold. I've never had any good luck with going invisible and then taking stuff from shops. Shopkeepers usually see me once I walk in the door.
If I run across a decent size potion shop, I'll give Marillion's idea a try, since potions are usually pretty cheap to buy anyway.
I'm way to NICE to kill the shopkeeper! He's just trying to keep his 12 kids fed, just in a really bad location! Probably got a really cheap rental rate on the place!

Just think of what the poor shopkeepers home life must be like. I think I'll go get some peace and quite at the shop. Even though said shop is located in the depths of the CoC with vicious Dragons, Trolls, and the occasional wild eyed Ratling wandering by! Talk about a rough commute to work!
"How was the trip home today, dear?" "Oh, just fended off an Ancient Karmic Dragon, Greater Moloch, a few rats, and the usual goblins. Same as yesterday. What's for dinner?"

I think I recall someone saying you can pick up, bless, and use a RoDS from a shop w/o paying for it. I'm not positive though.

Yeah, there's never been an RPG where shop location made sense. In FF3 (the Japanese one for the NES, not FF6) there is the "land of Eureka" or something, which is where the weapons too powerful for humans have been sealed for millenia. Well, eventually you get the Eureka key, and... there's three guys in there, selling spells and junk. Now how the hell did they get in, and how has business been?

"lets sit here and wait until some adventurer comes by!!"
or maybe they're just chilling, having a beer and watching football when you walk in.

I dont think being "nice" has anything to do with not killing shopkeepers.Shopkeepers in adom can generally kick some serious arse.I mean, figure it out, the guy runs a store in the middle of cave!
