Not realy suppricing, as I was saying your "purist" logical arguments that the death of large number of people is not realy such a bad thing, tend to upset people... Palagran: Re. Overpopulation debate I did not read all 1000+ posts, but I think you may be over-reacting to the critisism other people have given you. A lot of people are in pain because of these attacks. If sombody make light of another person's pain or tells them that it is good that they were hurt, it seems to be human nature for that other person to react angrily. If you wanted to shock people, be happy; you shocked them. Is it logical to be hurt/upset when humans react in an understandable way? Take some advice from somebody who loves to argue: Learn to let go, especially if you are arguing for a point in which you don't truly believe. That is, I don't think you believe it to be a good thing that 5000+ people died; I do think you believe O.P. is a serious problem. I do not think you wrote that as you your way of coping with the tragedy, but I do not think you were serious, originally -- I think you wrote it to be a Devil's Advocate, to exaggerate an opinion you do hold and because you weren't thinking about all the ramifications and how people feel -- When people got angry and started attacking you (both you personally and your ideas) you got upset and dug in your heels. Stas: *Big grin* I knew you'd see things my way. Caladriel: Unlike some people I know, I use the honorable system of conceding and admitting when I'm wrong, like most of the formal debators on forums/IRC. You're evaluation is surprising; most of that is true. Nonetheless, I still intend to gain the proper respect that has held the forum together since its creation. I understand their anger, and am willing to wait for it to dissipate. Logic does not govern emotion, so I cannot say that it is logical to react one way over another in any given situation. In a way, I am helping them cope with the bombings; I'm their vent. |
