I'm faced with a wild cat in the arena. I have no potions of exchange, and no companion. I do have a wand of monster creation though, but doesn't seem to help me much. Anyone know how I can get out of this without killing a cat?

Do you have the ancient scythe?

Spoiler
If you have it then just dip it into any potion to make potions of raw chaos, then throw the potions at the cat until it turns into a WMoPC

No, don't have that either. It seems pretty hopeless, it's quite early in the game and I don't have too many items...

Teleport it out of the arena.

No, dont use a wand of create trap unless your absolutely sure it will create a teleport trap. Traps created by you and set off by monsters will add to your kill list, totally voiding the idea of not killing a cat

Make a trap, and judging by the trap type you get and the trap order you can find in the guidebook, make a teleport trap with your second charge. And if you don't have enough charges of trap creation, you can also create traps by using blankets over pits.

Heh, all good ideas, but like I said. I have little equipment. No teleport spell/wand, no pet summoning wand... it seems kinda hopeless. I'm going for avatar of balance ending, so I really want the ring...

Read a difficult spellbook. One of the effects you can get when failing to read a difficult spellbook is teleportation, IIRC. I've read a story about how someone escaped a cat like this when he/she/it was stuck in a dead end, unable to do anyrhing else.

I think that only happens with a cursed book.

I grabbed the goodies from dwarven mystic with help of poor literacy skills. It was risky, but teleportation happens relatively often with non-spellcasters. I don't think the spellbook has to be cursed, but blessed books seem to have less "negative" effects.

Lol, this is just me, but planning to teleport in and out of somewhere with a spellbook sounds like a veeeeery bad idea... well, whatever.

Reminds me of the time i had the teleporteation corruption (with teleport control). I used it to get into the room in the HMV where the SoCR, read it while still in this room and lost my teleportion corruption... and did not have any means at all to transport myself out of there. Pretty stupid, eh?

So far you have only killed one wild cat.
