On the scorebord thingy, can anyone tell me what that 'and saved himself n times' means?

It just tells how many times the player has saved the game. Pretty easy way to determine if someone's cheating (if they haven't modified the FLG). Not always though, there are some who play the game about 5 mins at a time and the save score just keeps on getting bigger. I'm pretty proud of my only ever victory with only 5 save times. (Funny, how silly things like that make you proud...)

it also boosts your score if you don't save at all. I think barry kearns had a game with 0 saves.

Actualy there are 5 characters in the HOF that where never saved.

Use the HoF's search tool and search the score details for 'without' and see for yourself. "Toni Väätäinen" have 3 of them.

That's not really fair, I have to save it often because I need sleep!
Them other people must be sleep resistant or something. Arion, are you sleep resistant?

Sengoku: Why don't you just leave the game on while you go to sleep ? It's not RT after all. I guess everyone needs to sleep sometimes. Even I couldn't stay awake the one whole weekend I was playing ADOM, only one night. Had to sleep the other...

I did finish the game in three days in Real World Time, in a weekend as it happens. Played mostly through the clock, I slept only once... I could've finished the game quicker, but I spent my time desperately looking for AoLS.

But with lack of sleep I could die through all sorts of lack of concentration due to lack of sleep ways.
EG:

* Forgetting to put ear wax in my ears when on the banshee level.
* Forgetting to travel light when crossing a body of frozen water with hungry cute looking fish underneath.
* Forgetting that I'm on 10HP left and fighting my way through an army of ancient red dragons.

I could leave the Amiga on but that would waste electricity!

I only have a little time, like an 1 hour or so to play, so I'll (If I do decide to go to the highscores) will have like 50 saves.

I regularly save and back up my save game - because I'm so used to the game crashing on me. There's nothing I hate more than the game suddenly just crashing and my wonderful character lost for no reason whatever.

Since I've started using adom-sage, the crashes happen much more seldom, but I still can't seem to shake the habit.

I've submitted my scumming-free char.! FREE! That's really good for me, though Mr.Drakon was nothing for them, only saved the game about 50 times, thanks to holiday shopping.
