I first heard of this method at rgra; my question: Is it cheating?

If you haven't heard of this, basically:

You annoy one god (say, the neutral god) by repeatedly praying, about two to five hundred times. You have to survive the true matter bolts, and the summoning, but that's actually not too hard for a mid-level character.

When you do this, the other gods (Lawful and Chaotic) get marginally happier with you every time the neutral god gets mad.

So then you switch alignments to Lawful or Chaotic, and get pre/post/crowned (or get a lot closer to it, because there's no way to tell whether you've earned enough "jealousy piety").

I recently did this with a character, and was crowned with Aylas Holy Scarf. The Old Barbarian's level now contains what must be at least a thousand greater demons (yes, I had fire immunity).

So: Is it cheating?

i wouldn't concider it cheating. more like abusing a feature of the game. but there are ways of abusing the game that come closer to cheating than that one IMHO.

Does it still keep the fallen champion attribute?

I know it has been said before but anyway: once you become a fallen champion you can NEVER get crowned again

C, I'd imagine it would; nothing else removes Fallen Champion. I wasn't a fallen champion to begin with, though; just a normal uncrowned PC with one precrowning (from a vault/altar/ant hive combination) and a penchant for praying about 500 times to really annoy the Neutral god. The Fire immunity was from the Crown of Science; I wore it to avoid dooming and cursing (from an angry god), then took it off to get crowned.

I guess it's not that stupid. If I was the chaotic deity, a mortal doing everything in his power to seriously piss off the lawful god and saying 'naa na na naa naa, you can't hurt me' would really earn my respect :)

it's the same as using g18 in the specialists. It's not cheating, but it's damn, damn cheap.

Er, what?
If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.
