Well, maybe it is not such a big thing for all you ADOM masters... But I was kinda surprised. The ancient dwarf told me to kill a cave lion as the first quest. How would you deal with that? Is there still a chance to get the RoMC? Thank you. |

You can visit the Cat Lord before killing the poor yellow feline ... and when you feel like finishing the 1st dwarven quest, drop the one Ring on da ground before you do so =) |

get the RotMC before you kill the cave lion just keep it in your backpack or on the dungeon floor when you kill it. Does it count if you have your pet kill one for you or if you use a wand of destruction? I once had a cave lion pet and ordered it to attack to the cat lord. The cat lord killed it. Then I talk to him and got that ring. =) |

That's weird, it would be nice if the cat attacked you instead of the Cat Lord when you order it to attack him or maybe the Cat Lord shouldn't give you the ring. It shouldn't attack the cat, and the cat shouldn't attack the Cat Lord Then why didn't the ring explode when he killed the cat, maybe the Cat Lord didn't wear the ring he just carried it with him. kill the stupid cat, the cat lord IS tough, just take him to a stair, teleport till he finds you, then take him to Darkforge, cat god idiot is stuck there and you can jump aroud him, <not that want to hang there> and then you can go get killed by 30 greater earth things and the ring isnt THAT great, um <where is "the ring of the dog"? <G> <we have 2 cats and i wish i could sleep 22 hr a day> |

Might not be anything too powerful, but it's still the best ring in the game, so it's worth getting. That being said, I always slaughter all cats I can find and kill the cat lord for the millions of exp you get for killing him. Seven league boots, wands of paralyzation, that's all you need. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Best ring in game...hm Ring of immunity is decent And rings of djinni summoning are nice too... I've gotten the ring once, but dont worry too much about not getting it. Rings of Elemental Mastery are also quite nice, only time I've evergotten any of those was with a PoE and I got nine of them. From what I understand about the ring is that it's status drops with each karmic attack. eg. you have a blessed RoKA. -you hit karmic dragon your attack causes you to recieve karmic effect(very bad thing) -ring stops the bad karmic effect. -ring status changes from blessed to uncursed. -this will happen until the ring reached cursed status. -ring will not work when cursed(not sure...can anyone verify?) So, in short, a blessed ring will completely stop the bad karma twice...until the ring reaches cursed status. |

I used one once. As far as I can remember it works something like that, yeah. The message when you hit something is 'some sparks fly from your blessed ring of karmic absorption! The ring seems to glow less brightly' or something like that. What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |

The ring is very overrated. By the time you get it you most likely have other nice rings that compensate most of the bonuses you get from it. You get tons of xp too. |

A ring of karmic absorption, if you're a mainly melee fighter, can really only work well if you also have a good supply of uncursing items (scrolls or holy water--why would you even consider meleeing karmics if you're powerful enough to cast Remove Curse?). In a pinch, if you have no missiles... yes. But don't count on clearing that Karmic vault that way. Die Gedanken sind Frei |

Karmics aren't that bad, actually. True, if one has no missiles or proper spells that cursing/dooming effect can be nasty. My current Archmage attempt encountered a greater karmic vault, but that wasn't such a big problem. Death ray and high level magic missile made clearing that a cinch and those AKD's and GKW's left a bunch of nice stuff. Also, scrolls of luck help. My char accidentally hit a karmic being while dual-wielding, losing the fate smiles and lucky intrinsics. But two blessed scrolls of luck later the situation was fixed. It's quite bad, you'll notice it when a bunch of rats start pounding your eternium plate mail from [0, +17] to [0, +10] in ten turns. After clearing that karmic vault, return to the nearest altar ASAP. Meaning EXTREMELY USEFUL to get rid of those trapped clothes of sloth. What were you doing trying on unidentified junk anyway?
