Ettins rarely spawn, your best chance is look everywhere. BTW, I don't think I have seen ettins in the big room. The UD, yeah. The RotHK dungeon, sure, but not in the big room. Anvils: - Option A, lead the quest greater demon to the dwarven smith, have him killed, pick up the anvil, enjoy the now free forge. Or... - Option B, Go to Dark Forge, and try to kill Kherabwhatshisname the chaotic smith. - Option C, walk around randomly and kill stuff in hopes somthing will drop it. You've got more chance of finding yourself a RoDS and wish for it, while your doing option C ;) A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. [Edited 1 time, last edit on 8/9/2004 at 20:49 (GMT -5) by Maelstrom] |

I usually kill Kherab for an anvil. It's pretty hard though, he's one tough bugger. What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |

Maelstrom you will not believe this, just made a dwarf paladin, unicorn, long lost brother. Got to UD:8, and in what must be the 6th tension room so far, an orc scorcher (I think) dropped - of all things - an anvil. How messed up is that. Never had a RoDS dropped. Got a s/shot of the message log. Tell me how to get stronger.... [Edited 1 time, last edit on 8/10/2004 at 03:10 (GMT -5) by Derek B Rackham Esq.] |

Yeah, I've had exactly 2 anvil drops in my ADOM advantures, and about 25 RoDS :P A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

I usually take out Glod Spoiler
Just zap him with wand or spell and then lead him to another level and kill him there to avoit the muscular dwarves "I don't know what World War 3 will be fought with, but I know World War 4 with be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein |

Man everytime i choose to make weaponsmith i go and kick the door and boom, no more anvil, that is just damn annoying and i have never got anvil from a drop. there is no god, there is only me |

When I played a weaponsmith I stashed my anvil somewhere right at the beginning (in VD:1 or something) and only returned to get it when I had found a forge somewhere. after that I left it (and my leather apron and warhammer) by the forge). What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |

What is the benefit of using an apron? Strictly roleplaying? |

Supposedly it gives bonuses to smithing. What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |

It supposedly decreases the chances to fail, but it hasn't been tested. A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

An outlaw in UC:3 dropped an anvil... I left it there because I had no use for it, but I could probably go back and find it there if I wanted it. May thy wisdom be omnipresent. [Edited 1 time, last edit on 8/15/2004 at 18:05 (GMT -5) by einherjar] |

What do you do with an anvil? Smithing is all but useless. Artifacts cannot be improved and usually one finds lots of scrolls of damage/hit increasing. |

Smithing rocks. The difference between a well smithed/not smithed character by the time they reach D:50 is about 20-30 points of DV and PV. That's a lot. Don't forget that you can improve more than just weapons and armour - helms, shields, bracers, boots, even some rings. What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |

No. Said two posts before yours. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Originally posted by noob: "I'm everytime amazed how you people know to exploit every single little bug (or not-bug) for elaborated scumming tatics even if the feature seems completely useless or bad." |

I played as a dwarven smith, started with an anvil got the garanteedGlod anvil and found one on CoC 16 or so. Melted the 3rd one down for a cool 8 ingots. Smithed my crown of fire from [+1, +2] to [+8, +8]. I'm also working on my shield now :) up to [+13, +7] don't think it'll go much higher though |
