I have a level 19 Male Human Fighter who has adventured for about 210 days and has yet to descend past the Banshee floor. He's had three corruptions at most, and it seems that he requires a lot more food than before. He hasn't completed ToEF or the Water Temple yet.

On the other hand, he is nearly unstoppable even without the blessed cloak of invisibility, saved Khelavaster, and has a pair of 7LB (AoLS and 7LB were wished for).

Does anyone think I should keep going, or should I quit and start a new character?

You eat ALOT of food wearing invisibility giving items.

Edit: Why has it gone so many days? Why give up?

My PC had a lot of trouble at some points, and I'd go to the wilderness to heal, especially if I got sick. I'd use curaria mancox herbs for sickness, but I don't have the herbology skill.

As for giving up and starting over, I had thought that since I've taken so long to get as far as I did it would be futile to continue now.

Speaking of invisibility... how does the PC know if a monster is neutral or not? There's an orc on one level who remained neutral even after I took off the invisibility cloak. Usually monsters I meet while wearing the cloak are identified as hostile even before I engage.

You say your PC is already great at combat? If you're maybe worried about not being well prepared, item-wise, you might consider a trip to the ID. Potions of education aren't that rare (at least compared to RoDS and such), and who knows, you might get herbalism...

I'd try to keep it alive.

. . Why exactly are you not progressing? level 19 is easily enough to do the water temple, and probably the ToEF as well. as for the time, the only time event of importance is the 90-day post background corruption increase, so if you've already gone past that taking even longer isn't going to make much of a difference.

I never realised how long I was taking in the game... Usually I'd kill a monster or two, run back up to a safe floor and recover, go back down, and do it over again. It wasn't until I found a Crystal Tower shield and got some decent Eternium equipment from Thrundarr that I was able to kill monsters easily.

you have no need to worry imo... aols means 5 socr (was it five?), and if you have stealth rift means 5 socr, which makes 10, hmv has 1 in it and the buggy place 3 :)

just go to the water temple, it's pretty easy place... have you fetched the RoTHk?

It's 6 SoCRs for saving Khelly, IIRC. And for the Rift he needs Climbing at 100 and Stealth 100, maybe his fighter does not have all that.

Why do you need stealth 100 for the rift? I know you don't need it to climb down it. Is it because you are scared of the monsters there and don't want them to see you?
