Strange things happened today: First, on the last but one floor, I killed a named troll (forgot his though) and I got a emerald dagger "Serpent's Bite" (+3, 3d4+3) [+3, +1] from him. And on the last floor, there was no vault. Neither of these two have never happened to me before (on the cute puppy cave). What about you guys ? |

And the strange continues: My character is a troll. So I sacrifised a lot of stones, and my deity "deeply apriciated my gift". Until suddenly when sacrificing again 5 stones, he decided to punish me and all my equipment turned to dust ! [WTF] I thought troll gods liked stones... the former: when you a level, you get the message 'you feel a surge of power', there's a named high-level monster guarding an artifact somewhere on the level. You were very lucky, this is very very rare. I've been playing for about a year and I've had this happen twice. the latter: also rare but it happens. (about 1 in 30 times at a guess). deal with it. posted before i saw your second post. the sacrifice thing - were both from the same god? if you started off chaotic (for instance) then sacrificed a lot to the neutral, then tried to change back the chaotic god will be annoyed. other than that, unless you prayed a lot in the meantime, I don't know. It could have changed from any number of things... killing the wrong thing, doing the wrong quest, whatever. Check your alignment: If it's chaotic or lawful, you got in trouble with that particular god. Die Gedanken sind Frei |

In my current game, hurthling healer, I have already got TWO surges of power. First was in the strange cave where monsters are really bad (Scorched spear) and the other was in druid dungeon at final level (BoW!!!!:)). I was at level 13! Besides darkforge contained Wyrmlance, Staff of the archmage and a red dragon mail. :) |

There's a patch for adom that allows you to get it: http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~houeland/adom/ if you don't use it, the only random artifacts you can get from pre/postcrowning, surge of power, greater vaults etc are the following: the heavy crossbow "The Far Slayer" the obsidian quarrel "Thunderstroke" the scorched spear the hammer of the gods the rune-covered club "Skullcrusher" the glaive "Long Sting" the bracers of war the rune-covered sling "Whirlwind" the fine leather armor "Nature's Companion" the jet-black battle axe "Executor" the robes of resistance the staff of the archmagi the ring of immunity the rune-covered heavy mace "Purifier" the medium obsidian shield "Protector" the sapphire amulet "Preserver" the crown of leadership the dwarven pick axe "Hammerhead" the iron gauntlets "Ironfist" the black tome of Alsophocus the shining long spear "Soaker" the emerald dagger "Serpent's Bite" the rune-covered halberd "Wyrmlance" the other nonguaranteed artifacts (like boots of the divine messenger, shirt of the saints, whatever) can otherwise only be gotten by crowning. It's not an official patch. It doesn't include any cheats or anything, just fixes a few bugs. It does make the game a bit easier, though, as it tones down the "überjackal"-effect. I don't think anyone's gonna blame you for cheating if you use it, but you could mention using the patch when posting YAVPs. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. It still doesn't work. When I run the patch-exe, it says something like error while creating blah blah, patching failed. What am I doing wrong? |

dont trolls start as C? that was your problem, saccing LARGE amounts goto you, small things goto the alter color <G=white N=grey B=Chaotic> saccing small amounts is risky, you go closer to the god of the alter, and piss yours off... Guidebook has an excelent explanation of it |
