its the cave that says "a forbidding tunnel leading into the depths of the world"...and its on the middle-left of the screen, almost perfectly in line with terinyo.

i believe the only way to get a wish is to:
1. drink from a pool

2. wand of wishing

3. a blessed ring of djinni summoning

4. spell of wish

i believe that is all, but i could be wrong

4 should be changed to casting wish.. You can cast a wish from memory, or a spellbook or a wand of wonder. You can learn wish by drinking a potion of wonder, zapping a wand of wonder, getting it through one of various class powers at higher levels or of course reading the appropriate spellbook.

Armada: wishes are rare indeed, unless one is an Archmage. My Archmage has so far cast several hundreds of wishes. Now I'm done with wishing and I'll just scum the BDC until I've raised all melee weapon skills to GM. Then get the tiny girl a new puppy (couldn't save the original) and make the victory post.

I hear ya Real J! My archmage is scumming wishes to get 10000 HPs, PPs, and speed. That equates to several thousand wishes! Can't you just wish for weapon marks? My understanding is that you can although it may be version dependent.

Gozer: Yes, I could wish for weapon marks but as I'm playing 1.0.0 (don't like 1.1.x) it would be almost useless. In 1.0.0 wishing for weapon marks only gives ONE POINT to each skill, making it almost completely useless. Besides, I already have most melee weapon skills in GM, with only twohanded weapons and staves left (both at level 11). And since killing one (extremely experienced) ancient blue dragon grants almost 100 (no, that's not a typo, it really is almost one hundred points) weapon skill points it's not too slow. And with good armor, speed at 2000+ and 5000+ HP it's not too dangerous either.

Granted, those ABD's do hit hard. They get MANY attacks in a round and do some 1000 HP's of damage in one melee round, but they rarely get a chance to hit.

I COULD raise my HPs to 10000 if I wanted to, but that would be an absolute pain seeing how many wishes it already took to raise HP to 5000.

For heavens sake, don't forget to backup your archmage before leaving the chain! I wanna try it, and I believe many others would like to, too.

Maasto(nakki?): I won't, don't worry. I'm keeping backups even now, backing up the save file each time I save the game. I guess I'd like to try a deep ID dive after doing the victory post, just to see what things look like around ID500 or so.

The question is who'd be able to use my save. Remember I'm playing Linux 1.0.0 version so I doubt there are many potential users.

Edit: oh yes, almost forgot. I can't remember if I have mentioned this here, but my archmage also has a huge pile of RoDS if I want to use more wishes without damaging my stats. Thanks to wishing lots of !oEx and doing some ring-dipping in the casino (seems that's a good place to get RoDS). ATM the char has almost 350 RoDS, most of them stashed in a safe place. Yes, that's right, three hundred and fifty. Shouldn't run out of wishes any time soon...

For The Real J.: I am your big fan for a long time:-) Well, could you someday post a detailed story of your gameplay - how did you progress, WHAT DID YOU DO etc.? It would be amazing, I think. (sorry for my English)

I guessed honza meant one game. Sadly, I doubt I can clearly remember the early happenings of even this one game, as it's taken absolutely ages. I may remember roughly what I have done during this game, but not the details. I could try making some kind of story once I'm done with this game (raising the remaining melee skills to GM, getting the tiny girl a new dog, mainly).

Currently I'm not too thrilled about firing up ADOM and playing that char after slaving over it for so long. But I could try finishing it today after work...

How did you know my first name was Honza? Are you from CR? You are really a genius anyway...:-)
Yeah, I understand your reasons. But thanks for answer.

Actually I didn't know that. I just truncated the nick (was feeling lazy) and it just happened to come that way (pure luck). And no, I guess I'm not from CR (Croatia perhaps ?). I'm from Finland.

I also meant only one game. but that char took a long time to build up, I think.

Ah, I see. Well, I'm not from CR as I already mentioned.

Current status: just got twohanded weapons GMed. Now I just need to raise staves to GM and I'm done. Unfortunately I didn't have any good staves at hand so I had to burn some wishes on "eternium-shod quarterstaves" and hope to get a decent one. At one stage I got a fickle eternium-shod quarterstaff of devastation but didn't much fancy that prefix so I went on. Now I'm equipped with a blessed eternium-shod quarterstaff of devastation. Should be enough even though I've already killed some 7000 ABDs and they are getting TOUGH.

Can't play today, I'm going home to my parents this weekend. Perhaps I could play on Sunday when I'm back. Next week probably won't do as I have a full week of Symbian training and am probably will be too tired after each day. And at some stage I need to update my system to SuSE 9.1 pro...

Whew, it's done. Just recently I raised the chars Staves-skill to GM, thus finalising raising all melee skills to GM. Then I wished for 8 cute dogs for the tiny girl (just for good measure) and left.

The VP can be found in r.g.r.adom if anyone is interested.
