I got poisoned, but how do I get cured? I don't have a potion for it. I tried the Potion of Healing, but it doesn't work. Help?

The other question is... Is the text you get from the Fortune cookies actually good advice? I mean should I really pay attention to what it says?

Poison eventually wears off, but sometimes you die before that happens. Try to get at least one level of poison resistance early on in the game. Some monsters grant poison resistance if you eat their corpses. The healing skill helps as well, as it works to keep your HP up. Healing potions restore HP, so that will help your PC outlast the poison. Praying can cleanse you of poison, but if you have to rely on prayer to do so, you might as well just die anyway.

Fortune cookies are a mix of truth, lies, and humor. The ADoM Guidebook has a list of Fortune Cookie lines, and tells you if they are true or not.

If you use the first aid skill every time you get the 'you feel poison coursing through your veins!' message there's a chance it'll restore some hp. Not a lot, but it could save your life.
oh, and there is a potion which cures poisoning. It's called 'potion of cure poison' :)

Monsters that give you poison resistance: large spider, giant spider, tarantula, giant centipede, and some snakes too. If you get the message 'your throath feels very rough and your stomach burns', you got it. Spider corpses also poison you and causes you to vomit, but who cares. Once you have the resistance, it wears quickly off. Also, some artifacts provide poison resistance (ancient mummy wrapping, RotHK, Serpent's Bite and Bug Biter at least). And if you are playing an assassin, they become completely immune to poison at level 40.

If you've got mud on your face, wipe it off. If not, your blindness should go away eventually.

Shift-F. If you enter a humid room and (somehow) get mud on your face, you'll go blind permanently unless you're hit with water or you wipe your face.

If it's not mud, it should go away at some point. Usually it lasts 10-15 turns. I do remember one time when a door trap in the ID made my PC blind for a REALLY long time and he ended up dying.

I did read IBM guild manual once... Good thing I was the champion of my deity and my god didn't mind about my little prayer :)

" You are permanently confused. "

I didn't know back then what "permanently" meant, so I took my english dictionary and read it from there. Omg...

certain roots will cure poison also, just make sure they are not cursed. curia mancox and allurian antidote... its in the Guide, one is for rabies, one for poison. another tip, get Healing over 50 and you will never die from poison early in the game.
