(yet another mysterious message) I have a human necromancer going at the moment, he fights unarmed with shadow touch, like so: "You hit the *foo* and moderately wound it. You drain some life force and absorb it!" However, every so often (about 1 in 20 hits or something) I get the following message: "You hit the *foo* and moderately wound it. You drain some life force and absorb it! Your might increases!" anyone know what the last part means, or is it just flavour text? What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |

Shadow Touch might train Strength. May thy wisdom be omnipresent. |

Did you get more permanent hp? I mean that if you had 256/256 hps and you now have 258/258 for instance. Just a guess, and probably wrong ;) I have never seen such a message myself. The rust monster touches your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster. Nothing happens. You laugh at the monster's pitiful attempt. |

Interesting... I've no idea what it could be though. Maybe it would've trained strength, but you already had too much strength? Sorta like with getting stat increases from corpses... SSRT(someone should research this/that). SSPTORGRA! All those coder dudes seem to read those newsgroups, maybe they could look at the .exe file and see if they find something. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Maybe shadow touch can be trained up, but there's just no way to display your effectivity in it. |

At level 25, a necromancer gains hp every time you hit a monster while fighting unarmed (exept for undead and constructs). The downside is that it very quickly pushes your alignment towards C-. What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |
