how do most of you go about getting ingots? letting ants tear up a level? or mining? i dont seem to find enough ants and my pick axes break too often. “We're all bozos on this bus, but at least our bus isn't driving over a cliff.” - Pope Charles, SubGenius Pope of Houston [] Praise "Bob"! Some other monsters can tear down levels too (dwarf, raccoon, ankheg + some others) Monks can kick walls after level 13 or so. Weaponsmiths can melt down (useless) item into ingots. Skill in mining lessens chance of pickaxe breaking, and increases mining speed. One artifact axe never breaks. Blessed pickaxe should last longer (pretty sure of that). Read scroll of repair to fix axes. Pickaxes arent that hard to come by either. Sometimes items may melt into ingots when exposed to great heat. |

The Metallurgy skill increases the chance of finding an ingot when a wall is mined. If you need spare pickaxes, hang around in Darkforge. Lots of dwarven chaos knights get generated there, about 1 in 2 will drop a pickaxe. What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |

The dwarven smith can also repair your pick axe, although it costs a lot. The rust monster touches your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster. Nothing happens. You laugh at the monster's pitiful attempt. |

I'd choose candle. That way you won't need healing skill and you can get herbalism skill. And every PC need to heal fast and get herbalism skill. The rust monster touches your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster. Nothing happens. You laugh at the monster's pitiful attempt. |

nice choice, trollish weaponsmiths are cool :) as for the starsign, there are many good. I wouldn't say there is a single best. for my 2 trollish weaponsmith winners i chose Raven to be able to get the runetrident early if i couldn't find another decent weapon by then. If you're not born in Raven it will take ages to get it for a troll. Candle is a nice pick, although i would choose herbalism over healing anyway. Cup, Dragon and Sword are also nice. the greater moloch equips the hulking armor |

"The Metallurgy skill increases the chance of finding an ingot when a wall is mined." You don't find ignots mining, only ore, and metallurgy only identifies ore as far as I've seen - rather useless, especially since they're all different weights anyway. (I haven't done extensive research on it yet, but I'm certain it doesn't increase your chances of getting ore.) "If you need spare pickaxes, hang around in Darkforge. Lots of dwarven chaos knights get generated there, about 1 in 2 will drop a pickaxe." Not quite that many, but still a useful source; 1 in 10 drop a wand of digging (not useful for mining, but good for entering temples) and if they don't drop that then they have a 3/10 chance to drop a pickaxe. You can also lure dwarves out of dwarftown and shoot _past_ them; they won't hurt your alignment much because, well, they got in the way of your shot! You weren't shooting AT them! ;) Candle is my favorite birthsign I think. You are guaranteed to heal 2hp every 12 turns no matter what race/class you are under candle, and that's rather nice indeed =) |
