Question. Are the classes which are not straight melee or spellcasting any good? Assassins, thieves, druids, and priests are all interesting to me, but I hear little praise of their abilities (nor do I have much success with them.)

One more thing: what advantages do fighters have over Paladins and Barbarians? Both seem at least as good in combat and have more skills.

I like druids - guaranteed to start with a useful attack spell, and very good for the challenge of never killing a cat.

paladins and barbarians are both more popular than fighters, and probably more powerful in my opinion.
fighters do have some neat abilities: the increasing PV from armour is one. For that reason, and the fact that they start with metallurgy, making them into smiths is a good idea, so that you can max out their PV.

try dwarven priests, they start with excellent equipment and are both good fighters and spellcasters.

I wonder how much farming dark elves, being an undergroud race, get to do... ;) One of my problems with Druids is that they tend to get xps very slowly, because they don't get in fights with any animals.

Or maybe big spiders, sorta like cows.
