One of my chars was level 12 and was doomed and cursed when he died, but wasnt when he started what does it mean/do and how did he get it? |

Did you drink from any pools? Did you do something that caused getting cursed and/or doomed? |

Things that can curse/doom you Wearing certain artifacts, or armour with the "of damnation" suffix Attacking karmics in melee Annoying the gods a lot Eating certain corpses (like demons) reading scrolls of ill fate Drinking from pools Stealing from shops What cursing/dooming does is to heavily weight all dice rolls against you - either you get a large penalty, or each roll is made multiple times and you get the worst result, or something, I don't know. Either way it's bad news. Even fighting rats or something will have them punching through your armour, damaging your armour, doing critical hits, etc. They are two separate intrinsics, doomed being worse than cursed. There are also two opposite intrinsics (lucky and fate smiles upon you) which have positive effects (their effects are much smaller though). Note that they do not cancel each other out, so you could have all four at once, just one, or none. What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |

Read a blessed scroll of luck, drain a pool, or sacrifice stuff until you are very close to your deity. The best way is sacrifising enough stuff in my opinion. The rust monster touches your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster. Nothing happens. You laugh at the monster's pitiful attempt. |
