I have played a trollish healer born in the Candle sign, no luck, Fate smile, curse or doom, and i ran into a skeleton-ghul-zombie lesser vault. One of the skeletons suddenly dropped a green item... the Emerald Dagger! Whoa, without luck...

I got once two surges of power in a single game. Both before I was lvl 15 (BoW & scorched spear). The rust monster touches your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster. Nothing happens. You laugh at the monster's pitiful attempt. |

As far as I can tell, luck has no effect whatsoever on what quality of items are created, and indeed it would be pretty complicated to implement something like that the way that items are created. Looks like just another myth. |

When an item is created a few random items are created that appear somewhere on the floor. If, on the off chance, an artifact is one of these few items created a very powerful monster is also generated to guard the artifact. "You feel a surge of power" This message is presented when you enter a newly generated dungeon level on which the above situation has occcured. |

The SMC is one of my least favorite locations in the game, so i just try to find the down stairs and haul out. I have seen eternium/adamantium 2HS generated though, as well as other very nice 2 handed weapons. Oddly enough, ive never found higher quality armor in there. Only weapons. |

arrrgh;), why don't my characters find eternium treasure that easily? there was one exception, however - an eternium spear of penetration somewhere by the pyramid;). hacked with it all the time, got nice pole arms wskill, won the game;). If anyone has played any of the Diablo series, you will know about weapons types and prefixes/suffixes. In Diablo there is a very strict limit on which item type can be generated (like in ADOM - you CANT get high-end equipment on low levels) but in diablo the prefixes/suffixes themselves were limited, unlike ADOM where only luck (not game luck, but RL luck) matters. I think this is good with ADOM, how you can get a lucky find and then have it a lot easier. Of course ADOM has ways of punishing those who get too lucky too early...(orcish spear of devastation is my best low-level find - char later died to stupidity combined with some bad luck) |

yeah, one of my last characters comes to mind. it was a female gray elven assassin (greetz fly2 all fgea fans=). found two orcish knives of the eagle very early (about xlevel 5-8; it's not a super-drop, but combine the +10 bonus with a naturally high Speed) - i thought i'm indestructible with my Sp of ~120... again, YASD.;) What do you wish for? *THUMBS* EM_ Silence. Just got the emerald dagger with a trollish mindcrafter in the puppy cave. Guarded by a named black wizard and 8 barbarian leaders. First time i've seen the emerald dagger. Anyone know the stats on this weapon???? |

emerald dagger "Serpent's Bite" (+3, 3d4+3) [+3, +1] Weight: 13s When worn it modifies DV by +3 and PV by +1. When used in melee combat it grants a +3 bonus to hit and causes 3d4+3 points of damage. When used as a missile it grants a +9 bonus to hit and causes 3d6 points of damage. It is a humanoid slayer. It grants resistance to poison. It is very good at scoring critical hits in melee.
