Just wondering what people think of having shovels in ADOM. They would dig holes in grass, or ground if you were lucky. They'd help with gardening, they wouldn't break, but they couldn't dig through walls. Probably 1d8+1 and 80s. What do you guys think of that?

Nah. Same strength as spear? One seems a lot easier to attack with than the other, in my opinion. I've never had a pick break while digging below me, so it doesn't fill a need.
