Hello fellow community. I'm new at this game and downloaded but had a little problem. I've been reading about this game and it sounds like a challenging and complex game. Both of those attract me to games like bees to honey. However I'm not a fan of having to remember a hundred different commands. It's one of the reasons i never liked fighing games. I really want to give this game a try. What I need to know is if there is maybe a guide or some kind of document that has all the commands so that I can print them out and not half to go to the manual everytime I want to do somthing. Thanks for all the help.

Seeing the command list during game is not complex at all. Type '?' during game and then press 'K'. No use bothering printing it.

Actually, I could see use in a more detailed version of the key commands (and in some cases when to use them), especially the ones you use really rarely (wipe [F]ace for example), probably also sorted by importance. I might set that up, eventually (read: someone else should do it and I'll edit it a bit and host it ;), but for now I think the only source is the in-game keybinding list.

I cant remember the file name, & im not at my computer right now to check on it, but in the adom dat folder i think theres like config file or keys file something like that that you can open in notepad or wordpad & print
Ill edit this later with the names of the folder & file.

The file name is adom.kbd in your adom_dat folder, open that in notepad or wordpad & print it out
Stuff happens & you cant stop it, unless you can.

Yeah, the commands list can be bewildering, but you'll get used to it. Many of those you don't need, it's just that Thomas Biskup is being nice by providing 43 ways to pick up an item.

Indeed; I only recently started using the useful Ctrl+p and Ctrl+d.

43 is exaggeration. Sorry if I made it too believable.

I mostly use Ctrl-d and Ctrl-p, and ; for single items. And :d comes in handy in some places. I'm pretty sure there's some ways I've never really tried at all, and I think I've been playing this for two years.

it's shift-D I think... but not sure... I don't remember the commands, but my fingers usually find the right ones themselves. So deep ADoM is in my soul ;).

Yup, is shift-D...other handy commands I can think off of the top of my head are ESC (to cast spells, if you got em), A (to (A)pply a skill), and the lower F-keys (F-1 through F-5, I think?) to set your tactics from Beserk through Coward (Beserk giving you better attack but lower DV, and Coward doing the opposite. Saved quite a few of my first chars during their low levels)

If I got any of this wrong, someone correct me please! >:-)

how is 'healing' different from 'first aid'?

and I cast by shift-Z and change tactics by shift-T and then + or - ;)

Healing cannot be applied. It works all the time as you regain your lost HP. You regain it slower or faster depending on various things. First aid can be applied, but it can give only few HP and only if you lost some recently (don't know how recently, few turns I think). Quite useless IMHO. I only use it to stop bleeding, can be useful when poisoned also.

First aid is a lifesaver at low levels, before you have gained Healing.

First Aid only works on the first turn following a turn in which you take damage, which includes damage from poison and sickness. It can also be used at any time when your PC has the "bleeding" or "bleeding!" statuses.

I don't think it's always just the first turn; it can be a turn or three out if it was enough damage.

First Aid work in 'bout three turns after dmg. I usually got hit - step back - a1 (First Aid). I also sense that slow chars enjoy first aidding at fourth turn which means it is time dependant. More testings needed.
