What do those actually do? I don't remember them correctly and this is not my 'ADOM computer' so I can't check them. Could someone write them up here and explain them, please.

I'm currently having the falling star thing, but I haven't noticed anything very special [if you don't count my 3 SLBs and the wand of wishing with 5 charges I found :)].
The rust monster touches your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster. Nothing happens. You laugh at the monster's pitiful attempt.

The undead packing up and moving away message is believed that undead flee from you easier.

Falling star=increased luck of course.

Two-headed calf? No idea

The guidebook is really wrong on this, and sadly the effects of these birth messages are really pretty weak. (Though, if they were too strong, people would scum for them for every new character.)

From what Vladimir and I can tell, only 2 of them even have an effect at all; the effect being reduced exp costs for level ups (by 10%). The two that do this are Falling Star and Two-headed Calf; the other two seem entirely meaningless.

So, the only effects you'll be getting is a little faster leveling up. Nice, but not some miracle worker of luck ;)

Well, as I said, I'm having the falling star effect now and it looks like that the only effect is that I don't need quite that much experience as usually. Achieving lvl 50 with gray elven archers requires about 20 millions exp, but now I need only about 18 millions. So it does seem that Twinge is right. I wonder if TB just wanted to confuse us all by setting those special effects ;)

It might just be to add flavor to the game.

I never really think about those special messages when I get them.
The following is a real Adom message:

The homunculus hits you. You suddenly fall asleep! Do you want to continue to read the spellbook of Calm Monster? [y/N]

Could be. Maybe he just forgot to give them an actual effect too, hehe.
