Hey, I was crowned (pre crowned?) for the first time ever.

Dwarf Fighter, lvl 14.

It took an enormous amount of money, and I got a fairly crappy weapon. "Long Sting (+4,7d3) +6 pe, +6 speed".

I don't even use 2 handed weapons, since my shild skill is level 7 (With a Crystal Tower Shild) and my main weapon is a Rustproof Sword of Sharpness (+8, 4d8+7).

The immunity I got was cold. And ocourse, I got the blessed ammulet of Balance, and a permanent blessing.

It cost me about 60,000 gold. I could have used it for training, or buying neat stuff I'd find later.

Is this really worth it? I'm thinking of just selling the glaive...

I feel slightly cheated.

You were crowned, because you got the amulet and the immunity. pre/post crowning only gives an artifact; if you want to try for a precrowning next time, make sure you're not at extreme alignment (C-, L+, N=).

What you get is fairly random; you won't always get something amazing. In the future, I suggest you sacrifice stomafillia herbs or live creatures, as that's generally an easier route that still leaves you with some cash. If you manage to get past the ToEF and down to the casino, money won't be a problem anymore anyway. You should probably also wear the ancient mummy wrapping (from the pyramid) before getting crowned; that way, you can't get immunity to cold and instead you'll get something more useful.

I agree about 2-handed weapons; Shields just give too great of a DV bonus to not use IMO.

So it's better to get precrowned first? So that you can get crowned later?

It's better to get precrowned first because you'll get an extra artifact AND you can save the crowning for way later, which you might want to do if you're doing an ultra ending.

Avoid the dwarven halls unless you have some form of escape such as SLB or controlled teleportation.

Hey, any crowning gift beats the Gauntlets of Eternal Peace, which I received. Merchants don't seem to have the best crowning gifts... Fortunately, I was pre-crowned with Preserver. Yay!

I tried precrwoning once, with my lv 21 Dark Elven Mindacrafter. I was in dwarftown and extremely close , my alignment was N-. Then I prayed and my alignment changed to N=, Why? I had full PP and HP, so the prayer didnt do anything except change my alignment. Then I prayed again, and I got crowned at n=. Why coulnt I have a precrowning first?

Gauntlets of eternal peace are somewhat better than the Black Tome of Alsophocus, which I always end up with.

when you sacrifice at a neutral altar, you can get to N=, but the game won't always change the letters on the screen, so it would be best to press Ctrl+r (that's redraw screen right?) before praying. So your alignment probably had changed before you prayed, but the letters changed just after.

Hey Hubris, those are pretty top-notch weapons/armour for a level 14 PC. Care to share the secret of your amazing hidden cache of stuff? My High Elf Priest could use the help...

Hey, last week my Dwarven Priest (L+) got crowned at level 11 in the puppy cave. I was lucky that there was an altar on the cavernous level in the puppy cave. It was just a matter of sacrificing anything that came my way.

I got the scarf
