When I was fighting in the arena, one of my opponents was a piece of animated armor. I couldn't figure out a way to kill it, so I teleported it out of the arena. Later I ran into it (it appeared to be having a conversation with a ratling trader), and it started following me around. It couldn't hurt me because I was in coward mode, but it wouldn't leave me alone! It followed me all the way to the dwarf village, where I teleported it again. Now whenever I enter the village it finds me and starts following me around, trying to attack me! Anyone know how I can kill this thing?! (or at least get a restraining order against it? ;-P) I tried sacrificing it, but it doesn't do anything. I can't get magic to work on it (now it even resists teleport), and I can't damage it even when I attack in berserker mode.

Heh, killed it. No wonder it was so hard to kill; it was worth almost 2000 xp!

Those animated armors are quite common in the Darkforge. Can be a pain in the butt at early game, but becomes a very minor obstacle later in the game, IMHO. :)

Frankly I think the steel golems pose more of a threat in Darkforge than animatesd armors.

yes, and if you can get your hands on some acid or lightning, no problem (or ahh those phase daggers).

also construct slaying ammo could work.. at least they do wonders on the steel golems.

yea how is it with the protection amulets? i've had the idea that protection from undead reduces the st + to drains and such... not sure about that.

protection from constructs... animated armor isn't undead, IMHO... (or maybe? animated = refers to undead, armor = refers to contructs) or is it both (udead & contruct)

Ok i think i have figured out what it does. Prevents sickness from undead - corpse fiend 'n' mummies.
Ghuls + liches still paralyze
Stat drainers still stat drain
confusers still confuse
ghosts still age

Amulet of protection from constructs i'm still unsure aboot, it doesn't protect against traps, and i don't see any logic in it absorbing damage from steel golems and stuff.

i guess the amulets somehow increase your PV against these monsters attacks.. in other words, you receive less damage from their hits

I'm with Babacaman. They are after all amulets of PROTECTION from undead/contructs. PV stands for protection value, so it would be logical.

That's just a theory though, could be wrong.

My strategy for bad guys who I can't kill: I run away from them and lead them into a room with other smaller bad guys. Then there is the hallway where you can use the lesser strength bad guys to block for you. When there is a space, use a wand of door creation and close that door. If you can lock it, all the better. I prefer teleporting too. I teleport myself away.

Tip: Animals can't open closed doors... ogres and giants can smash locked doors.
