My wizard got the spellbook of wishing from the Library. However, the spell cost was so high that it would kill me at level 31 to cast it. I ran a few experiments, courtesy of adomf, to see if a level 50 wiz could cast it. Not as far as I could tell, at least with my fake-o level 50 wiz experiment. And casting it did kill the wizard, though an amulet of life saving saved him. The spell still failed. So, does anyone know what it takes to be able to use the wish spell? I figured it would be traumatic to cast, but really! |

There is a room effect that lowers the casting costs of spells. Also, the cost should be halved on Silvernight. |

It is actually castable without cheating, i've done it with a high elf priest, and didn't have any problems at all with food. Just rocking around reading spellbooks willy-nilly. And wish came along. 3000mana it uses normally x50% priest lvl 25 skill =1500 mana he was on level 50 at the time IIRC and had about 700hp and 700mana 1500-700 = 800 mana not used 700 - 800/2 = 300 hp left so it's a nasty one to cast, i'll give u that for sure... but when u get chaos orb of earth, with it's bonus and things like daggers of endurance, pendants of mana, braces of toughness. You can do it. note: wizards only get 40% off the spell costs while priests get 50%. DougyDougy - Dougy - DougyDougy |

i was once playing Potion Roulette with a trollish barbarian (of all things) when what should i get but "You suddenly know how cast the "Wish" spell." whopee, i thought, then i looked at the cost... something along the lines of 4500 mp, while i had a meagre ... 2, IIRC, and ~150 HP. (this was w/ a lvl 12 guy BTW). goes to show, Potion Roulette can be fun or not... ivan.sourceforge.net |

Have no idea. But logic says it must be some non-magician with low spell cost influence stats. Troll barbarians falls into that category very easliy. ;) Locke Cole |
