I've only recently started to develop a taste for smithing, couldn't be bothered about it before but I'm getting to like it.

Anyway, no matter what, I can only seem to increase the DV of items, not their PV... does anyone know if PV is increased randomly, or only increased if your smithing skill is i.e. over 80, or other conditions?

To mee the increases seem random. But I get more pv increases than dv it seems.

Now to think about it, think about some highly smithed iron head wear. You can get it to give something like +7+7...now how much did an iron chainmail give? =) you get more protection out of a helmet than from a chainmail. How BIG is the helmet then?
sry for OT.

The better the items are the harder they are to improve. "Better" could mean either in terms DV or PV.

So if you smith a [-30, +50] moloch armour(eternium if you're wondering) you've got a better chance of increasing the DV than the PV :P
If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.

Darn heavy to wear a moloch armor and an anvil at the same time...
