Rarely, but it happens more often in the UD then in any other dungeon except the CoC (and only beacause the CoC has 8 times more level then the UD ;P ). The artefact guardians are generated from the monsters you usually find in the UD, but they CAN be tough. BTW Vent Zone - my last good char died between an artefact guardian, a Giant Rust Monster, and a hostile cat lord. Just when I ran out of teleport charges on my wand. And to think a few minutes earlier that char (then lvl 21) meleed the eternal guardian and won. And what did that rust monster guard? Far Slayer, just the thing I needed for my humanoid slaying crossbow ammo (my crossbow got wasted by some black dragon). A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks.
