My Lv15 hurthling mindcrafter was back on the eastern side of the map wanting to clear an undead vault on PC:6 since when I first got there earlier I found a river that I could not cross at the time. No swimming or wands of cold , but I did have a waterproof blanket. The narrowest crossing was only 2 squares so I felt pretty confident with about 150 HP. Packed equipment that I did not want rusted and jumped in. Took about 50 or 60 damamge...kewl =) Cleared the vault and started back up to Terinyo. Got to the river with 120 HP, lucky and fate smiles, no dooming or cursing, and wearing the ankh. Jumped in. "You are drowning"....still 91 HP left, no big problem, move into second tile....glug, glug.....bye bye PC. "You are drowning","You die..." Remaining HP...-12. Ive never encountered drowning damage this brutal. I kicked myself when I later found 2 uncursed potions of carrot juice in my pack. |
