More out of fun and curiosity than anything else, I have been mulling over some ideas of an ADOM tournament to crown the "best" player and/or character. I know that these sort of tournaments/championships have been proposed before, and I'm just curious what standards you guys think would apply to identify a worthy champion. Some thoughts I came up with:

1. Furthest progress in a fixed time period.
2. Most victories with different race-profession combinations.
3. Highest score.
4. Closest attempt at a successful Eternium Man victory.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

It is difficult to make one, thanks to the single-play-only aspect. But I think we could do number 1. 3. 4. if we could agree on a specific class. My coins:

5. Go as far as possible with starting equipments. You can do anything but use/eat anything affect your "natural" status i.e. no PoGA or PoS. Book reading are allowed but you are not allowed to read a spell have memo score larger than 500. No wishing. Burnden and strained status are forbbiden. Scumming are forbidden. The victor is the one who go furthest.

ADOM tourneys are hard, though i would love one :)

Some additional variations for fun rather than the actual crowning of a champion:
1) Pure randomed characters for furthest progress (that'll leave some real unlucky combinations, darkelf merchant comes to mind)

2) Choose a race/class and see who can go the furthest with it.

3) Other metallic challenges are fun to do: see who can do them the quickest.

4) Finishing the game with the LOWEST score =P

I hate eternium man. Ive tried it and suffice it to say i failed far more miserably than others have.

I hate to say this as well, but ive played too many MMORPGs to let it pass:

Of course we'd have to go on "all in good faith", but the truth is some people do find the need to cheat even in a friendly game with no reward whatsoever.

It is inside where it counts my friend.

Back to topic:

I think human is a good candidate for race is they are not special.

And for class, I think monk is a good one since he can both cast magic and fight and he is not affect much by weapon/shield RNG dropping.

male are not affect my the frog quest -> more stable.

To sum up, a male human monk is a candidate for the chosen char of the torment.
