An archmage is a PC that has unlimited amounts of wishes. Shortly: a character that can bookcast wish with mana stat at 1

I don't know what's the best way to get more PP, but draining wands with mana battery corruption is one way

Anyway, folks, experienced and mayhap spoiled players, please help.

What's necessary to bookcast Wish?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's:
1) Wizard
2) Good Book caster, Great Book Caster
3) Very high Ma
4) Some special time - Darknight or Silvernight.
5) Something else I just don't know about.

I managed to learn Wish with my only winner, and was greatly disappointed by casting cost (3000 PP – not from book - which meant I’m a deader if I tried).

Please, help with these steps:
1: +Priest????
2: At least I know how to pick talents ;)
3: How does one get 99 Ma? Is that via RoW and potions of exchange?
4: Does Darknight or Silvernight affect Neutrals? I mean, first one should affect chaotics, and something like "dark magic", second, respectfully - lawfuls. What benefits neutrals earn from D/S nights? I ask because I really like neutral alignment due to Thief's guild, Dwarven Mystic and eating undead :)
5: That's what it means. I don't know anything else. Item suffix/prefix? Artifact? Location (room)?

Oh, and please, tell me something about Priests bookcasting Wish. Have you ever heard of any? Are Priests eligible at all? Does their 50 percent casting cost reduction help here? What do they find in a Library beyond The Rift?

You don't necessarily need to be a wizard, but it makes it a lot easier to cast wish. RoW and PoEx is basically the only normal way to get 99 Mana.
Casting from the book costs 4x the normal amount of PP, so it's actually better to do it from memory. When learning the spell, try to do it in a room with a rich flavor so you don't die of hunger.
Haha...don't know anything else -_-' I don't usually bother with spellcasters.

But, as far as I know, casting Wish from memory drains random attribute by 10, which is a lot more than a Wish itself can yield in terms of attributes.
I've learned Wish after eating two stomafillia, and drinking something... Potion of toughness?
I was just amused by 3000 PP cost.

Anyway, does anyone bother with spellcasters here, then? ;) Especially priests.

An Archmage, as Morio said, is a char who can cast wish at 1 Mana (and 1 Wi), therefore one that is able to cast it when all his stats are at 1. Since all your stats will be 1, it won't drain anything (duh!), so you'll be able to cast an unlimited amount of wish spells, if you have 12000 PP.
Cast it 99 times, wish for Potions of Gain Attributes, then for potions of water (to bless them all), then enough times for "better marks" to get Grand Master in every weapon, and so on, untill you get a demi-god.

Just to make your char even more 1337, wish for potions of troll blood, potions of raw mana, potions of quickling blood, potions of longevity, potions of youth (if you've been unnaturally aged), and amulet of life saving (in case you screw up).

"Cast it 99 times, wish for Potions of Gain Attributes"

Oh, yeah ? And where do you get enough books of wish to cast it 99 times ? How many years do you play to get even two of those ?

None of these is required. My gnome archmage could easily bookcast wish with Ma at 1. And being neutral he got no help at all from dark/silvernight. And the game was on 1.0.0 that doesn't have talents.

All one needs is a way to gain lotsa PP. I performed the Archmageing after closing the chaos gate so the char had practically unlimited time. Mainly it was achieved by gathering a HUGE pile of wands from various places (mostly BDC) and draining them. Some wishes were also used on "power" to gain some more PP.

One book is enough. Bookcasting doesn't wear out the book.

And one doesn't necessarily need to spend many years to get two wish books. My Archmage found a grand total of FIVE spellbooks of wish (one from a bookshop, one from the library, one from ID and two from BDC) without spending too much game time (or real time for that matter).

Aquiring Archmage:

1) Get to 12000 PP (1 HP count as 2 PP) with all stats at 1.

12000 PP equals to circa 6000 coprses or 3000 wands.
6000 HP equals to circa 2500 !oUH

2) Get a Spellbook of Wish (Duh!)
Memorize the Wish spell (Duh!)

3) Find an unlimited food and undangerous environment.

I think that's it.

tonghoanh: what's the talk about "corpses". how do you increase your HP (PP?) with corpses?...

shihna:
"RoW and PoEx is basically the only normal way to get 99 Mana."
false. this can be achieved via mana orb+some SoCR+unicorn quest reward. it's not unusual to have Ma: 70-80 by endgame, and these 20 points can't make a big difference (10 PoMa or some spellcasting before mana orb).
also, if you get an easy PoGA recipe (like booze+herb, i think it's possible) and drink a lot of PoGAs in the late game (by bdc or so), you may need only several or even zero uses of COoEM to maximize your Ma.

AFAIK it is not. ISTR reading somewhere that PoGA recipe will always require some not-so-common ingredient like !oCC, !oStr or something like that. Then again if one can get one !oGA for one !oStr and has enough holy water (e.g. using the ?oRep abuse/bug) it's a trade-off worth making.

Yep it is a good receipies for high PP.

About !oGA receipe: IIRC the !oGA's components are from RARE potio ONLY (thanks to Twinge, but I've deleted his page by mistake...) The potions are include but not limited to:
Potion of Younth
Potion of Longevity
Potion of Cure Corruption
Potion of Strength
Potion of Quickling Blood (not sure)
Potion of Insight (not sure)
Potion of Troll Blood (not sure)
and 1-2 more...

Its still possible to get an easy recipe for PoGA, if you get Youth + longevity (don't think insight is possible for PoGA?) you will have easier recipes for these two. I once had a char that only needed potions of invisibility and cure poison to make an PoGA (plus some herb, but they are essentially unlimited), building them up via Insight, Extra healing, Youth and Longevity (I think)
I also had Booze = burb root + potion of carrot juice, getting lots of potions from a certain drunkard.
