So I'm a N- Trollish Healer around level 4-5 in the Druid's quest for Keethrax. I find a white altar and, forgetting that I'm the wrong alignment, drop some items on it to see if they're cursed -- specifically two unidentified blankets. Suddenly I get changed to N+ and the room is FILLED with rats! Naturally since I am teh_leet I'm able to beat them all into red paste, but I'm wondering... is this normal? I didn't try to 'O'ffer up the blankets, I just dropped them... |

the lawful god got angry with you since you dropped trash on his altar. this happened to me once, too. when i see something strange, i read the message buffer, you know...;) edit: this of course happens only when you drop something on an unaligned altar. What do you wish for? *THUMBS* EM_ Silence. Silence. .... *THUMB* *THUMB* *THUMB* You die... [Edited 1 time, last edit on 7/3/2005 at 15:38 (GMT -5) by d666] |

Weird, I don't remember getting a message! Just lots of rats. Amusingly enough, a few rock sacrifices later (yay trolls!) the Lawful god took me as his. |

i believe there was a message about god shouting something like ">stop dropping trash on my altar<", but nevermind that. tossing stuff surely was the reason to blame you. but who cares about rats?...;) What do you wish for? *THUMBS* EM_ Silence. Silence. .... *THUMB* *THUMB* *THUMB* You die... |

IIRC sometimes non-worshiped gods just eat your items saying "Thanks heretic". It may happen only to chaotics->lawful altar and lawful->chaotic altar, but i'm not 100% sure about it. But the rats are annoying, especially if you drop everything on the dwarftown altar while being chaotic - the place is swarming with annoying rats. A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. You got N+ from N-?? Strange.. you'd think it'd go the opposite way. The rust monster touches your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster. Nothing happens. You laugh at the monster's pitiful attempt. |

Lawful gods summon rats? I thought that must have been solars... Solaric rats, that is. Ubi patria ibi bene! |

Yes, I've never heard of gods summoning rats either. |

Someone mentioned a while ago that the god had summoned rats, never seen it myself though "I don't know what World War 3 will be fought with, but I know World War 4 with be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein |

It's easy to see it yourself - go to dwarftown with a chaotic char, and use the extended drop/all command on the altar (:d + ). You'll either get the "thanks heretic" text (loose the item) or the "get the junk of my altar" text (rats summoned). A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |
