I'm playing a dwarven assassin right now, and have been having trouble keeping him alive. Well, I was thrilled when my luck turned around and I found a girdle of giant strength and an amulet of life saving. After getting these things, I began taking them down to Khelly. On the way there, an acid vortex came along and destroyed all my spellbooks, my only torch, my entire collection of scrolls of identify, my entire heap of potions of extra healing, my amulet of life saving, and my girdle of giant strength. I love the RNG. >:( |

It probably didn't help that I was cursed. For some reason the whole game, an altar was never generated, 'cept Dwarftown, of course. I had him fool around in the DH until he was killed. Good riddance. |

A pitty. Great beginning.. I allways try to kill vortices - spit to death (if I play Drakeling, and vortex is non-acid) or destroy it by 'burning hands' spell. Excellent thingie, by the way. I mean 'burning hands'. - cheap, no 'tails' for cats, no shrugging off. I even think about a proposal on adom.de about an equivalent frost spell - called something like 'ice claw', 'ice spike', 'nether grasp', etc. with a less damage, higher PP cost. Just Ice - for fire dragons, demons and other shitty bastards, who don't allways deserve an 'Ice Ball' cast. Ubi patria ibi bene! Or steel golems. I hate darkforge. I mean, you *could* carry around a spellbook of lightning ball and bookcast if you have enough PP, but that's annoying. Give a man a fire, and he will be warm for a day. Light a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life. |

We really don't need duplicate spells. Diversity among the different elements is definitely a good thing. |

Especially when a f****n fire grue shruggs of 4 frost bolts in a row, opens it's mouth and swallows PC. Sure we don't. I just hate it when a weak little Black Wizard summons 5 acid/fire/cold/lightning vortexii which proceed to explode all over the character, who of course is resistant to every element except the one corresponding to the vortex. You know you've played too much ADOM when you try to throw coins at people wearing similar clothes as yourself. |

To tongHoAnh: I think that by diversity Armada meant that fire would have Burning Hands, Fire Bolt, Improved Fireball, and Fireball, while ice would have Frost Bolt and Iceball. My point being diversity in the number of spells each element has. You could be right too, though. |
