"You are wracked by feverish fits! You are wracked by feverish fits! You are wracked by feverish fits! You are wracked by feverish fits! You are wracked by feverish fits!"

85% of the time, those are the last words I see before I die.

How do I cure sickness? This is so frustrating!

i apply first aid every time i get the message. dunno if it helps, but its a habit. if its still early in the game and your stuff aint IDed yet, check the potion you have most of, like "Black Potions(just an example)" or whatever. then pick the start of that potion that isnt the biggest and drink it. or just bless the potions and quaff them.

for eg.
heap of 2 black potions
black potion
heap of 5 black potions

drink the heap of 2, or the single potion. most likely the potion you get most of early on is potion of healing. and a blessed potion of healing will cure all sickness. saves me a whole lot of deaths this way.

if your stuff is IDed just drink the blessed potion of healing.

Sickness:
a) leads to a general sickly disposition (check stats after going sick)

b) causes you to lose hp. Whenever you get to a certain level you get hit by a sickness wave

c) can in some cases be fatal, by giving one last great fit

d) can be cured by a number of methods, including
i) naturally (some skills may help)
ii) by potions
iii) by magic
iv) by herb

e) can be utilized to gain greater power (go to spoily forum and ask how, if interested)

Direct death from sickness is somewhat rare, but walking around with low stats and constantly low hp is a good way to die of "other" causes. Method i) of curing it is usually the only one available to you early in the game. When time passes, so will the sickness. So try to place yourself in a situation where you can let time pass quickly...

Sickness dont actually kill you, except for the last fever fits. What it does is:

1) reduce your stats
2) Keep you HP at most 1/2 of max HP (reduced via stats reduction)

if your Hp go higher than 1/2, you get a fever fits

the last fever fits actuall deal some more dmg, so it is a good idea to use first aid to keep hp in check but dont waste !oH because you wont be able to keep hp anyway.

!oH actually heals sickness, at least in my experience. So waste 'em!

Potions of healing work at least 75% of the time.

Sickness from pools is near-immediately fatal; the attacks of sickness don't stop when you reach half HP. Have some herbs, potions, or spells nearby when you drink from pools.
