I had a gray elven wizard, and went to *holeinthewall* to learn pick pockets, and the Master Thief told me to get some more practice> then he didnt even teach me pickpockets! i checked my skills to see if i had it, but i didnt. So i couldnt practice, and couldnt join the thieves guild> so no detect traps for this guy... Has this happened to anyone? *<< Words go here >>* |

Two possibilities come to mind. 1. Your char was of some lawful flavour. The master thief won't teach anything to lawfuls 2. IIRC the master thief actually asks the char if (s)he wants to train (Y/n). If you happened to choose N then naturally your char won't learn the skill. 3. You had stolen something from the shop by being invisible, so the master thief incorrectly thought that you were a trained thief already. (IIRC, this is a known bug.) |

Same happend to me few times. Including my current grey elf wiz... This really sucks. I recall that one can still get to thiefs quild by stealin stuff from shops.Don't know how many times I have to do that... HallelujaaGobble! |
