If you could choose one - and only one - immunity that can be found in ADOM, which would you pick?

I would definitely pick cold immunity. These christmas times are simply just too cold for my tastes...

Fire.

Then I could swim in a volcano =D.

Or stop burning myself on the oven =/

Mindless analysis time!

Fire is definitely a nice one. No more trouble from ovens, hot objects, matches... and you can satisfy your inner pyromaniac. But perhaps you won't be able to enjoy hot food & hot showers, which is a minus. THe pros still far outweigh the cons, though.

Lightning would also be a nice one, since you become protected to electric shocks. Definitely helps with home improvement, computer construction, and suchforth.

Cold depends. I *like* cold weather (amazingly enough), so it would only be valuable if a) I move to an area with dangerously cold weather, or b) get stranded in aforementioned place. Neither will happen any time soon, unless I can get a trip to space.

Acid... no. It *might* help for scientific experiments, but just wearing some protective clothing offsets that minor advantage. Orange Juice would also lose the tang. ;)

So it's really a tossup between lightning and fire, with a slight advantage going for cold. I'd most likely choose Fire, just because I'm a bit of a pyromaniac when it comes to that.

good points. I might switch to Lightning, because I don't burn myself on the oven/other utensils quite that often (and how would I climb naked out of a volcano?), and I HATE static shocks. Nullifying that zap would be comforting, plus I could play in the high voltage cages at the power plant.

Would lightning immunity protect you from the "electric shock" you get when you hit your elbow in the right place? ;)

If memory serves me right, drain cleaners work on bases, not acids. We have a Darwin Award in the making.

IMO if you like hot/acidic/cold (/shocking?) food and gain immunity, you will still be able to feel that it is hot/acidic/cold and it will taste the same (or even better because of removing pain feelings), but it won't be dangerous to you. The same goes for cold weather.

I'd choose Poison Immunity (Assassins get that, so it's valid!). Then I could drink all the alcohol in the world, and still be able to breath (and stand, and walk, and run... and stuff!).
That would be impressive. And I could win drinking contests with it, earn lots of money and spend it all on more booze!

Along the same lines, does an amulet of free action grant immunity or resistance to paralyzation?

If the former, we can twist it into all sorts of advantages. You will never be paralyzed in fear, "paralyzed" in shock, "paralyzed" in happyness, "paralyzed" in the midst of confusion, "paralyzed" between to choices...

According to the GB, the amulet of free action only grant paralyzation resistance, not immunity.
Edit: Also I want to add that immunity is only granted with the following elements with the exception of poison (pointed out by Maelstrom): Fire, Cold, Shock, and Acid
