I've seen those first ones many times but that oops thing is really a rare one... to me.

i've seen teh ones where the monster gets mad... its easy: eat a goblin corpse when your w/in a goblin's LoS. i've heard about the Oops thing too, maybe got it once, can't remember. never seen the stuff with the sign.

The sign one is easy, attack a shopkeeper from outside the shop, if he's in your LOS he'll leave the shop, close, lock (and soemtiems trap) the door, and put that sign up (it says something to the effect of "closed while I kill a thief" (not even close probably, but something like that)...

I always attack shopkeeprs with melee.
What bout the vegetable thingy.When does that come.I've got that in the arena once but dont remember why.
The OOPS thing seems to be a bug in g15 when planting herbs.

The vegetable message in the arena occures when your opponent is teleported out of the arena, IIRC.

1. The way to get that message is to have a shopkeeper step on a shopkeeper corpse while you are in the store.
2. How do you read signs on doors!?!?!?

Shopkeepers don't leave corpses... oh and if they do i think they'd "rearrange some items" before getting hostile.

oh and this message i only just recenetly seen while entering the bug temple with a l50 fem dwarf priest

Thus i couldn't enter the bug temple - anyone know what the restrictions are on entering that place ?

You're supposed to have played a few games of ADOM before you can enter the place.

Basically what you do is start a few chars and quit them instantly. Still if this was your first char I dunno if you'll be able to enter.

hrmmm... i've heard that same rumour before... however all 100 high score slots are filled with something...

however the saved game did come from another copy of adom so i think it's locked out, in the save game.

Guess adom flags your game when you create it, so that you have to have been playing the couple of required games before starting your current one.

Hmm, indeed...

The file defenently contain a counter of some sort. The hex value of the file started out at "67 00 00 00" for me, I created a new character and it changed to "68 00 00 00" and finaly "69 00 00 00" after a second character.

"69 00 00 00" translates into 105 if converted into an ASCII value, and that seems about right (92 characters in my score file, 4 active save files, and probably a few quitted characters)...

This is defenently the file used. I made a backup and set the value to 0, and the new character I created was not allowed to enter.

The characters are flagged at creation though, after restoring the original adom.cnt file the same character was still refused entry while all new characters can enter just fine...

Not rely, I mean if you can identify the exact value in the save file that tell the game not to allow the character to enter the temple, and create a CRC removal patch for version 1, you could probably unlock the temple for any character. However that seems a little bit more work than it's rely worth.

You CAN modity the adom.cnt file when you first install ADOM though so that your first character can enter the temple once you create it...

Not nessesarily. I mean sure you can't just type, say 20, and save. But you can open the file in notepad and replace the content with:

!!!!

just four "!" characters and NOTHING else. That should tell ADOM that you have played, um... 1185921 games (I think, (33^4 right?), I'm getting a little rustry). Anyway, it's defenently more than enough to enter the temple (I just tested and it works).

That way you don't have to muck around with HEX editors, and you can skip creating a dozen (or whatever) characters before you start to play for real...

Use some kind of hexeditor or you have just seriously fucked up.

Ok, ok, sorry for trying to act all "guruish"

And I would defenently not recomend using Norepad to edit binary files. However in this particular case it does "work" because the file only contain a lone integer value (you can't fine tune it or anything though)...
