ok for the 3rd time now i've tried ultra ending and fecked it up somehow. if you go for a lawful finish do you have to have the sceptre in your inventory or even generated if you have ToRR? would be nice not to have to dive into the dungeon.

nope. I jsut did Ultra Lawfule ending, maybe the easiest one

I usually complete old crone quests before I reach lvl 20, after that there is no reason not to become champion of Order/Balance.
In the AoO-ending you don't have to extremely corrupted, in AoB you have, that's why I completed the AoO (although I noticed that corruption was not a problem to me: I got only ~5 corruptions when fighting Andor)

Hrmmm i assume he is using wadomf "he started a cheat game"

But it is possible to save scum potions of exchange and dipping rings and make potentially infinite wishes.

wish for rings... wish for potions of exchange... save, dip, load

Hmm think your right Dougy. But it would more likley be the WADOMF one(its not out for vesion 1.0.0 is it).Scuuming for RoDS especially 164 would be the most liberal waste of time ever.I mean it would take ages unless your lucky.

cheating is stupid... extremely stupid: why the hell you should play the game, if you have 164 RoDS?? There is no sense, it's just waste of time...

I agree entirely, i've known friends only play the game with wands of wishing 999 charges. Usually when i play chars that get wishes i never use them anyway. Or for silly things like "scrolls of danger" to save me time finishing that quest.

oh it's not a waste of fun..a waste of fun is making it to the chaos realm and then realizing you wasted 100 hours of playing fairly just to be shredded, that's a waste of fun...

fun is starting the game with eternium everything and slaying everythign in your path...jesus what an attitude y'all have. what's so damn stupid about wanting to play a quick game just to slaughter andy? i've boosted my stats plenty of times WITHOUT cheating....hell i know i can do it, it just takes too much damn time.

there was a post about how to reproduce items...that's all you got to do. works great for crowing.

it only takes a few ToRR to get extremely close, heh.... plus you can equip your companions with superb stuff. if you're into that sort of thing.

cheating does take teh fun out of it. if you've beaten the game fair, then cheating's fine to squeeze teh last ergs of fun out of it. but if you do it right off the bat, it's not a challenge. what makes most games fun is the challenge. you tend to get bored of teh game faster if there's no challenge to it, and even if you stop cheating the game gets boreing because you've already seen everything, done everything, and there's nothing new to do (except try and get the highest score ever). so IMO, if i'm gonna cheat in a game (i don't consider spoiling cheating) i wait until i've beaten it W/O cheating first. i used to cheat whenever possible, but after draining several games that way i stopped.
'course, i'm still waiting to actually *see* the Chaos Gate, let alone go through it and kill Andy.

well i'm glad to see everyone's so opinionated, and since when did everyone joining together to tell every secret of the game get moved to the "not cheating" category. here's another opinion for you, you're a hipocrite and probably just lying to make yourself feel better.

*ahem* i did say that learning the secrets of the game was not IMO cheating. its knowledge. cheating is when you *change* something *in the game* to make it easier (i.e. making yourself immune to death). however if you know how to avoid dying in the first place, you don't need to cheat to avoid it.
and i'll tell you one more thing: i've been called a lot of things. some of it is true. i have lied in the past. but online i have *no* reason to lie. i have *never* been called a hipocrite, and if you asked anyone who actually *knew* me you would realize that i do not pretend to be something i am not. at least not seriously; i'll joke about it (Yeah, I'm so good that I can get a ULE in a half hour! *wink-wink*) if i'll do it at all.

I don't see any point starting game with full eternium equipment and lots of RoDS and WoW. I've realized that actually the most fun part of ADOM is when you try to survive those early stages at the game. Usually the game becomes at easier when you have over 1000hp and full artifact gear and other stuff. But thanks to the creator there are corruptions, death rays, aging to dead...and as Duke Ravage said, just avoid dying, it's that simple. This wasn't a personal attack against anyone, just my opinion.

May as well throw in my two cents...

I scum (duh, read the sig). I scum because I've never beaten this game and I'd like to beat it at least once. My main purpose with scumming is to keep from dying. Occasionally I scum for wishes from pools, but I accept the bad stuff that happens with the pools too (I don't start over because something negative happened. I just keep drinking till I get a wish). The only other time I scum is in the bug temple, with potions of exchange. That's it, my three reasons for scumming. I don't cheat using wadomf (except when I'm not playing seriously).

I think scumming's okay as long as you acknowledge that you do it. If I ever win this game, I won't say "I won!" without mentioning that this was through scumming. Pretending to have won without cheating, when you really did cheat, would be wrong.

i agree w/ amanda. and i do the same thing; i'll drain a pool accepting hte bad stuff until i get a good thing (at which point i hurridly run far far away). i scum a lot (although it's usualy to get higher wep. skills), although i do it as little as i can get away with. i don't even save scum; if i die i die and that's it. although for some odd reason the furthest char i've ever had was achieved through absolutly *no* scumming whatsoever (unless you consider knowing what the next level prob. will be like is scumming...). the only time i really scum bad is when i'm experimenting (at which point i'll scum like there was no tomorrow).

I'd like to hear your personal opinion about couple of things. Almost everyone knows that save-scumming, making those backup files and that item multiplying thing(don't remember how it happened exactly though) are considered cheating.

What do you think about methods that aren't cheating but somebody would consider them as immorale. I'm talking about scumming stuff in the ID, getting infinite gold in the casino and training your stats to 99 with dwarven trainer and other stuff.

I don't see anything wrong with such methods because the creator has made them possible. Problem with casino is that you either win a lot of money or you lose all(in previous version). Maybe the casino should be removed from the game...

ok, geeze i must've really misjudged all of you. i'm sure all you non cheaters have never visited the drakalor chain board of tourism, or done everythign in your power to get all the secrets in the game w/o having to figure them out. i'm sure you did it allll by yourself. look that's fine, great, but i don't have that kind of time to waste on this game. it's long enough as it is. so give up the act people, you cheat as much as anyone else does. there's nothign wrong with cheating, your talking like parents now....shame on all of you ;)

Does any of this really matter? It's not like this is a multiplayer game, where one of us cheating could ruin it for everyone else. Everyone's free to do whatever they want when they play ADOM.
