This comes from my current game, having just given the black druid corpse to Guth'Alak and getting a potion. Upon speaking to him, I got the usual knowledge or power speech. Opted for knowledgte and got this!

"Guth'Alak, the druid, teaches you a lot about gardening. You feel as if transgressing some law."

I KNEW IT! GARDENING IS SINFUL AND CHAOTIC!

Ladies and Gentleman, take my advice. Pull down your pants, and slide on the ice.

No, its not chaotic. Its neutral.

If you're lawful, you'll be pulled towards neutral.

If your're chaotic, you'll be pulled towards neutral.

Since you're moving away from law though, its seen as a non-lawful act.

Not really - it's chaotic as long as your lawful, and it's lawful as long as you're chaotic.
It draws your alignment to N=.

Hey, here's something - read a scroll of balance. That can be chaotic too :P
A pessimist sees a dark tunnel.
An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel.
A realist sees a train.
And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks.

A scroll of balance? But doesn't that just check your alignment, and not move you one way or the other?

Well, was N-, so I guess that explains it all then. Still, gardening is a sinful act.

Scrolls of balance can change your alignment now, a few stones, but i've had them change me from N+ to N=.
