I'm a fairly long time reader and first time poster. I have a orcish barbarian who's kinda stuck. He cleared Water Temple (but had a bit of trouble with the Snake from Beyond). I don't know what to have him do. Level 20, he has Skullcrusher and a few other nifty things. On normal he has 40 DV and 40 PV. He's cleared Gremlin cave and gotten the vial, cleared Darkforge but haven't killed Kherab. When he went to TOEF, he took 100 damage from crits and he only has 300 hp (this was from fire demons) so he left (tension room of them). A main problem is food and time. It's day 53 and he has to eat every short bit even though he's crowned. Is it because of artifacts? He can kill big bad lich kings so should he continue digging up graves? Hey there, welcome. Artefacts will indeed up your food consumption rate, just depends how many of them you are wiedling/wearing. Have you munched your way through all of the herbs and cooked lizards yet? Digging up lich kings.....hmmmm....I wouldn't do many more, if any. Depends though, are you crowned L+, N= or C-? If its L or N, then stop it, since you don't wanna lose your status and get your god angry. Any wands of cold or bridge building skill? You could always go and get the RoTHK. That would give you some experience. Have you got a ring of ice as well? Just to make the ToEF a bit easier. A highly charged wand of acid/magic missile/cold would help you clear the tower as well, and help damage the Worm. A wand of poison would also be pretty good against him. Then you can get outta there. Ladies and Gentleman, take my advice. Pull down your pants, and slide on the ice. |

Yeah, I've got Crown of Leadership (digging up graves) and Skullcrusher. I haven't really done much harvesting. I guess I'll do that. Cooked lizards I have, but the rats don't restock fast enough. I was thinking about getting RoTHK. I do have bridge building but the skill is only 23. So it'd take alot of logs. The other problem is getting them there. I *do* have a hatchet, but it takes awhile to cut trees down. It's not too much of a problem of alignment. I've dug up.... 4 or 5 I think. I just sack some useless artifact or gold to go back up to N+ (I got crowned N=). This is my first guy to clear a temple, so I don't want him to die, I guess I'll go do High King. Yes!!!!!! I killed the Ancient Chaos Wyrm! Most annoying thing was, in 1st battle with him I had a certain corruption and tried to drink my blessed potions of Extra healing. Atleast now my weapons will be poisoned for awhile. I just berserked, got a crit ( I think) on a tremendous blow got him to critical hp, then just regulared. His energy is his most powerful attack in my opinion. Homework is not meant for home! It's a sick verbal coincidence! -My brother |

The rats restock at a sufficient speed usually. But for them, time only passes when you're on the arena level. So you'll have to wait there, even eat some food on the way, but they'll restock. |

Thanks, I'll have to wait around there I guess. Is the Minotaur maze *really* worth it? I need to find some place to level up. I'm thinking of going there or the rift, as I don't want to fight the air temple or around there at level 24 (I've already reached the casino). Homework is not meant for home! Minotaur maze has little experience and lots of stat-draining and frustration - I wouldn't bother personally. I'd recommend the Rift (especially if your Stealth is up to 100), and maybe diving through the Caverns of Chaos and taking out threat or tension rooms you think you can handle. Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse." |

the maze imho is worth visiting only if u're playin some kind of fighter who uses two-handed weapons mostly since the axe of the minotaur emperor is the 3rd most powerful artifact in the game in terms of raw to-hit and damage (after Needle'n'Sting and of course TotRR) All roads lead to chaos, in the end. |

I guess I won't go, I'm using Skullcrusher and a shield (humanoid slaying rocks) I'll do a bit more of CoC, I'll just have to get past cat lord :/, then I'll try Rift. Edit: How tough are great white wyrms? I'm beating up a lesser vault of white dragons (they drop lots of fat loot and exp) and hes in the middle. Currently he's not hostile, but will he become hostile? Is it worth it to attack him? Homework is not meant for home! Obviously he'll be tough, and cold immunity would be handy (still got the ancient mummy wrapping?) Also best to have protection from confusion as he'll cast spells at you. Dragon slaying ammo is the safest bet, but you may be able to reasonably take him on in melee, especially if you use things like potions or wands of stunning. If you can take down the ACW then you certainly have a major chance against another wyrm, but keep some teleportation handy and be careful of it berserking. I beat him, lucky me I got a special immunity from crowning :-). I just ran up and bashed. Not too hard, he could regenerate which was annoying. He also drains stats, but he only drained my worthless ones like appearance. Homework is not meant for home! It's a sick verbal coincidence! -My brother |
