I decided to give 1.1.x a try in order to attempt another archmage. Even though I hate the übermonster bug and some other design decisions (rats causing disease, ugh) the great book caster talent and improved "dagger marks" wish would be a great help. After numerous attempts I managed to get a gnomish wizard going and saved it. Today, I tried to restore the game but just got some mysterious error. After numerous failed attempts I just gave up and deleted 1.1.1. So it's back to 1.0.0 then. *SIGH* It seems the Linux version 1.1.1 is bugged completely unplayable piece of crap...

Really? I've never had any problems. I use ADOM Sage which makes use of the Linux version, never had any crashes or problems at all. It's possible that a file got corrupted when you downloaded it - I'd suggest you not give up after the first attempt.

i sometimes have this prob

if adom crashes i loose the save game. the best solution is delete all the subfolders and fire up adom again which is the same as when you first run the program and all is fixed and works fine

Your message might have been "adom.prc was not deleted"

So go to adom_dat folder, and delete the adom.prc file. Fixed!

Char still lost unless you backup though.

Ah sorry I see you said linux version. Well I don't know then

Nope, it wasn't adom.prc. IIRC the message was like:

Fatal error: "Couldn't delete 'adom_tdl05_1' [CUS]."

Try deleting everyting except the main game executable (and your save files). Sounds like some leftover temp files after a game crash. At least that usualy works on the Windows version.
