So I finally made it to UL:4 to attempt Sharad-Waador's quest. He says to "stand on the staircase, then we'll talk", only he's standing on the staircase himself and won't budge. I teleported him away, but now he's out of 'C'hatting range. I suppose I could keep teleporting him until he winds up next to the down staircase, but that would take ages. Any suggestions?

He's really on the stairs himself? Interesting, I've never heard of that bug. I imagine that Sharad-Waador wouldn't take kindly to someone asking to change places with him. I think that filling the level with closed doors and teleporting him randomly might be your best shot.

it happens usually if some stupid monster fights him. possibly you could use companion to lead him, but it might be very unsafe. i have dreadfull memorries of old times when he attacked my necro with slaves on sight.

I'll go with your theory Soira X. I opened the door to his room and about 5 low-level monsters stumbled out. Rotten luck, ya?

I've been scumming the crap out of this game anyway, so if I REALLY want the Trident of the R.R. (which I can live without, I'm not going for an Ultra Ending) I could just teleport him around til I get a satisfactory result. What are the odds that he'll land on a spot adjacent to the square he is standing on now? >.>

8 / (total open spaces in the level) = (the chance of him landing next to the stairs)

To increase the odds of him teleporting to the stairs, try filling up the rest of the level with closed doors or monsters of some kind. Breeders, perhaps.

I wonder what would happen if he would be standing at the wrong stairs when talking to him :D

he will respond only "Stand on the stairs, then we'll talk!".

The breeders are only useful methot, you need to seal both staircases plus a tile for waador to stand(remember to leave a +1 to both staircases, othervise you'll have a 50/50 chance to teleport him on the staircase again). Then fill the level with breeders, you'll need lots of them to start with just to make it in a reasonable time.

This has happened to me once, *very* irritating.

But don't breeders stop multiplying after a certain number? It's the "feature" you take advantage of when "pacifying" the big room.

OR, is it only that new monsters aren't generated, but the existing breeders continue to multiply?

Also, there's always the gremlin bomb.
If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.

This might be a stupid question, but what the heck is gremling bomb? Is it just Fluff ball + water(traps)? That would work even better.

Breeders keep breeding indefinitely unles you read a scroll of vermin control (praying can also stop them I think). Pacifying a level involved trapping enough of them in a room and no more monsters will generate on the level.

Gremlin bomb just involves gremlins and a water trap, or can also involve bringing a fluff ball into the water dragon cave.
